With Big Sam's statement that his team had no natural width, you wouldn't have thought Townsend's reason for choosing Leeds was due to worries about being guaranteed a first-team place at Upton Park any more than he'd get at Elland Road. With West Ham flying high compared with us, why did Townsend opt for Leeds? http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...ionship/1431/68/west-ham-snubbed-spurs-winger
If he's a spurs fan maybe he hates whu.or when he played against us for millwall, maybe he wanted to play for the leagues best fans.
Agreed I doubt he wanted to play for a rival London team and I would imagine he saw a chance to shine and stand out.
He's raving about our fans on Twitter. Maybe it is that he sees a chance to be a hero. He'd just blend in with a load of other expensive players with high expectations at West Ham.
We're the biggest team in the league playing a better standard of football than West Ham (which would suit him) and whether we get promoted or not he goes back to Spurs. We have everything going for us apart from league position, which doesn't matter to him.
Apparently big Spurs fan and we all know Spurs fans hate West Ham...so probably didn't want to go to them. Also he probably thought he would have more of a chance starting every match at Leeds rather than crowded West Ham squad.
No one likes Millwall especially not London clubs but they're not hated rivals like Arsenal and West Ham are too Spurs. I thinks West Ham are too Spurs as Chelsea are to us. Not our mains rivals but we do hate them and have had run ins in the past while Millwall is too Spurs as Cardiff are too us, we certainly don't like them and we do have a past but we wouldn't crucify one of our players for playing for them.
