guys ...ive pretty much had come to the end of my tether with this current crop of liverpool players (about 7 or 8 of them)
tonight against city we've bossed the league leaders for a huge period of this game but yet again we are about as toothless as a 2 month baby.
im hoping kenny walks over to jose enrique and says "STOP SHOOTING , YOU CANT DO IT ..YOUR RUBBISH AT SHOOTING"

jordan henderson is a passenger , and we were robbed of the money from sunderland.......charlie adam is also out of his depth and the guy simply cannot cross a ball.....right before he came off he shot three balls in a row into the first man from a cross.....
stewart downing is another waste of cash.......he is also unable to cross and is predictable in what he does ......he also has to stop shooting ......hes rubbish at it.
glen johnson is good at getting forward but he aswell does the same thing over and over and he cant shoot or cross .....

we have to sign 2 strikers.....i think we were robbed for andy carroll but hes getting no support from wide.....

the less said about kuyt and spearing the better .......they were anonymous tonight....

this team will not play champions league next season

    Here comes the doom mongers!

One moment we're doing, then we're crap again, then we're good and a few players off and now we're crap again.

We're 3 points off fourth and unlucky to be only 3 points off!

Yeah okay this team isn't as good as past teams, but it isn't that bad c'mon man!

I'm disappointed that we gifted them 3 goals tonight, the better team won but they didn't have to do anything special or work hard for it. We lost against the team top of the league away from home with our 3 best players not starting, it's not the end of the world! We now have to bounce back and go on a run of games.

We had more shots on target tonight than city, and low and behold we couldn't put even one away.

There is absolutely no structure or logic to this post. On one hand, you say we bossed the match and then you proceed to slag most of our players off, including Jordan Henderson, who most informed Liverpool supporters agree is a very good buy and is getting better.

Can I politely suggest you shove off and support the team that 'thrashes' us last night. <doh>

I think its fairly rubbish also.... lets be clear they CAN ALL do it.... the fact is the neither trust themselves nor andy carroll...

I watched both downing and johnson reject chance after change to sling on in last night and the only thought anyone can have is that they want the perfect position and no defender before they will cross or they just don't back their team mate to go get on the end of it.

Adam is not trusting anyone around him any mroe, he's off on solo runs A LOT... so one has to wonder what the hell they are at they must play as a team

And the problem will continue until someone says to them (collectively) that they have to just sling the ball into the area when Andy is on the pitch - Andy won't score unless they chuck something into the mixer for win to shoot with or lay off to an advancing midfielder (Henderson needs to do this more, as Maxi does when he's on, and as Shelvey did when he got the opportunity...). It means that Andy can relax and play his game and not snatch at the only one or two half-chances he'll otherwise get. He needs to be confident another chance will be along in a few minutes. And that will mean he can get scoring and the confidence will flow throughout the team from this.

It does seem that everyone is looking to 'do it himself' rather than passing it to colleagues and trusting them to do it. Adam is a case in point - the 'runs' are a repeat of his team-carrying behaviour at Blackpool which made him look less of a team player...

to be honest.....i havent thought once that we will finish higher than arsenal or chelsea........we just arent good enough.....and i thinl most of us liverpool fans know that we have spent last summers transfer kitty unwisely....
i slagged the players off because they cant cross the ball or shoot on target ........they bossed posession alright but we are on the losing end ..so who cares whether we had the most possesion...

was that logical enough for you mate

Fact of the matter is we spent the money poorly no positive spin is going to alter that.

If i hear one more person say "well look at the situation we WERE in" i'll scream, that has come and gone we should be looking to cement 4th place THIS season. all the problems have been eradicated.

I'm not gonna hammer the players who we all know (well most of us) arnt good enough but i feel they just need a tweak here and there, charlie adam does not release the ball quickly enough he has the ability to make the game tick ala xavi alonso but he doesnt have the game intelligence to make it happen, he also doesnt know his own limitations as a footballer, the amount of times ive seen him try to dribble past a few players only to give them a goal scoring oppurtunity is unreal, if he cuts out that part of his game he can be a good squad player.

Downing seems completely devoid of any confidance, the amount of people asking why he isnt played on the left probably dont understand that he's been found out on the left, he refuses to even ATTEMPT to beat a man therefore getting to the byline and whipping them is is not currently an option, steve & kenny know this which is why hes constantly on the right so that he doesnt have to beat anyone, cut in and whip in with his left, on current form he is not a winger he's a pressure release who wins corners & throw ins ! he needs to be dropped untill he finds some confidence he looks scared to lose the ball hence why he constantly plays it safe.

Henderson, i am actually happy with, he will be a great player one day, i think people who say he's annoynamous in games need a reality check, trying to boss yaya toure when your 21 is gonna be a task for anyone, he does not go missing he doesnt do alot wrong aka lose the ball, he does get shots on targets and he does make some sublime passes, more
than happy to give him time in the 1st 11.

Andy Carroll looks like a broken man and seeing the way we play i cant see his situation getting much better, he simply isnt fast enough to fit into our system, also he has the touch of a elephant which isnt going to help. who ever santioned spending 35m on a player who doesnt have basic control and even a smidgen of skill is lucky to still have a job. Best i can see this situation panning out is come to terms with the fact its not currently working out, aquire a centre forward in jan that has skill & pace and could eventually link up with suarez while either using andy as a sub or loan him out in the eventuallity he bangs in a few goals and regains some value so we can sell. in the remainder of this season he could potentially prove himself but he shouldnt be given the oppurtunity from the start, if he does bang them in for us from the bench, great id love to be proved wrong and we could then review his position in the off season.

WE were always gonna have a problem with the league leaders and i dint think we showed our selves up too much, game plan was right keep it tight untill we could bring gerrard and bellers on but unfortunatly we shipped a few soft goals...it happens. BUt i wasnt happy with the performance of our centre forward he had a couple of chances and there was no conviction there. We desperatly need a striker that has pace and can hold the ball up, not bounce off.

Totally agree with this. Since he has been playing centrally, I think it's plain to anyone with half a brain to see the reasons we bought him. To describe him as 'anonymous' or 'a passenger' as some have done on this board, is frankly, ridiculous.

This thread reminds me of the Beastie Boys song Sure Shot.

MCA Come And Rock The Sure Shot.

    My edit....

Let's be fair, the only reason we are currently 6th in the league is down to 2 things:

    1 - poor finishing
2 - the amazing run that Spurs have put together

Would it surprise anyone if were were currently behind City, Scum ,Arsenal & Chelsea?

Had the woodwork been a bit more forgiving we could be comfortably in 3rd

    ermmm...

    1. yes
    2. no

I think certainly its plain that if we could score goals we'd be higher in the table, its also plain we've flogged goals to Blackburn and Norwich where 1-0 would have done just fine so....

I would have to say though that its not just cos spurs got a good run.. we could say that about arsenal and newcastle too... we caught newcastle and we all knew once their games agaisn tthe big sides rolled about they'd drop back.. we thought arseal wee imploding but they strung a run together and look ok. chelsea look dire but are still up there.... so all in all its not only spurs that have had a flier, in fact i think its only us thats not had a run of form where we win 5 in a row... too many draws, not enough wins is the answer.

3rd? not so sure, lots of ifs and buts there, not just woodwork.

1-0 is never fine. Rafa used to sit back on 1-0 too often and in 08/09 it cost us the title. 1-0 does not make allowances for individual moments of brilliance, or a blinding cockup. 2-0 is the minimum acceptable...

1-0 is 3 points. its not idela when we all want to win 3-0 every time but had we say dominated norwich and hit the post etc yet didn't flog a bad goal and won 1-0 everyone would be heppy that night.

same thing v blackbrun... own gaol... oops worst side in the prem given a bit of hope and they go on to beat utd away. We still threw 2 points down the pan.

Defensively we've been good, one of the best in the league since we tossed out carragher but we could still amazingly do better there.

I'd of course agree that the top sides will kill a game off and of course for example utd won quite a few 1-0 to hang on in there this year without looking like ever being good enough to beat city.

I rather the 1-0 and 3 points than what we have done!

I have to say i do agree with liverpoolred in parts, however there are a few things i disagre with. Spearing is a young lad who is still playing for the reserves and i feel given a few years he could be a regular player for the first team squad. You sure your talking about the same manchester city game cause i felt he was fantastic tonight. Continually hounding players for the ball, not allowing players to get there shots in and has more strength that carroll. Kuyt is still a decent player i believe but with the new purchases he just hasn't got the oppertunity to play and i think its time we decided what we do with him. Enrique as good and powerfull defender he is he should not go any further than the half way line his shooting is poor and would be more use staying back to defend. Downing is a very tidy player, makes very few mistakes however he is lightweight but is quick with the ball but then very few players are both right? we saw a while ago he has the ability to strike a ball when he struck the post and a couple of previous attempts he has had.

I think we need to decide what type of football we want to play. Either quick neat football with players such as Suraez, Downing, Gerrard, Bellamy ETC or if they want to play a hit and hope style game with carroll in the box and endlessly lobbing balls hoping carroll might be able to get on the end of one.

Having said all that we have done well this year i thought we would be 7th and a long way off the top 4, but we are still in touch with them and you take some of our draws and turn them into wins we are 4th and in strong contention for 3rd place (1st/2nd are no shows man utd and man city have them). I think with a few changes and yes a few new strikers and carroll to go and gerrard back fit we could be a force to reckon with!
