Defoe was dawdling on the ball and just about to get tackled to everyone's dismay and shouts of "he's ****" when he works some space and fires in into the corner

Why doesn't VDV shoot more often nowadays? Youtube videos and past form indicate he can be quite deadly from outside the box yet recently he's elected to pass when perhaps he's had the option to shoot.
