He admitted calling someone a 'negro' in a country that classifies that term as racist.

That's bang to rights, the case couldn't of gone any other way.

I make a valid point instead of trying to argue against it you resort to insults. Well done.

Not to mention that this whole situation involves a Man Utd player <doh>

I don't see what else the club could have done at this stage of the proceedings.

It's already been pointed out on here how the report was drafted in a way that gave very little room for movement.

It was also pointed out there was very little chance of winning an appeal.

The club have said they still think the FA are wrong and they still back the player but I'm sure under better legal advice they were told to not appeal.

Me personally i wanted the club to do everything it could to clear his name but i do understand the club going down this route.

That's what I thought to begin with, but I think we're up the creek without a paddle anyway

For the hearsay issue can neither be proven or unproven. How can we prove that what Evra said was untrue? We can't. The injustice rests in the Fa's interpretation of evidence, the ruling is passed.

If you read LFC's statement they're not happy, but they're admitting nothing.

Have I missed something? Are you saying he's guilty yet you're pissed off we didn't appeal?

I think he's guilty of calling someone a negro - (taking away the cultural differences that this case is all about)

I'm pissed off that our club has been giving it all the mouth before seeing the documents and are now backing down.

Looks to me like the club and Suarez have had to admit defeat due to the fact they feel they cant win and end up with a bigger ban. The FA clearly wanted to make an example and arent going to change their minds.

Plus if we wait for the appeal time and then lose, meaning the 8 game ban stands, there are some very important games he could miss

It now just shows all the LFC fans that were calling for COMS and private courts had no idea. Lfc agree Saurez is a racist abuser, a biter of opponants, a diver, an unofficiated goalkeeper and an out and out cheat.
Hardly surprising he has become a patron saint of all scousers..

I got to man up and make an apology to SKY for the way I completely rejected his opinion on the matter.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's why they did it.

Without going back into the usual arguments, I'm afraid calling Evra a negro is a statement of fact, for he is of that race.

There's nothing derogatory about the word, it's in the dictionary with an acceptable, non-racist definition. We're talking context again, though, aren't we?

I'm pissed off as well, but I think the club have been legally advised.

True but one thing for sure is if I called a black man a 'negro' in the street Id be getting a slap. Also if I called a workmate a 'negro' during an argument Id be getting the sack. A footballer shouldn't have the license to use a term that is seen as disrespectful. Yeah it's a description, but a taboo one for sure.
