Concerning Obertan perhaps a spell in the reserves is in order? Its obviously he has no confidence at the moment and can't seem to beat his man. It might do him the world of good performance and confidence wise def in the long run anyway

Yeah because playing him in the reserves will do wonders for his confidence :emoticon-0112-wonde

No way will bumping him back down to the reserves help his confidence. Clearly it already bothered him when it happened at Man Utd and if it happened here we may as well just give up on him. He does really seem like a confidence player.

True but give him time with the coaches, bad habits take a long time to go away. Simpson for example has improved since last season IMO, the coaching is improving him.

Very much agreed. I'm all for working with Obertan, because unlike a player such as Perch, he actually has bags of locked up potential that needs releasing.

By long run I meant in the event (allbeit unlikely) he may never play again which in my eyes would be a blessing

Seriously though the problem with his perceived reliance on confidence is that he's unlikely to attain a higher level of confidence with us than that which he had during our early season form, at least in the forseeable future. How much longer we continue to wait and stick him in the first team is problematic.

On that basis I suggest a loan move. Blyth Spartans seems a good bet.

Exactly, he has skill in abundance but needs help learning to use it properly. Perch however (as an example) is very limited and will not improve with games.

I'd so much rather we had Marv fit just so we could use Ober as an impact sub to get his confidence back.

We ought really to consider a look at another winger. It seems the trail's gone cold on Hoilett though :/

We were ever in for him in the first place? I thought that was just wishful thinking from a few fans considering Blackburn will want much more than we'll pay.

People were giving Guthrie stick? I thought he was excellent when he played.

Not recently, I meant they had never given him a real chance and were made to eat their words after his excellent performances.

Have no problem with having bought him, I think with work and some more confidence he could come good. He's already had a few assists anyway. Oh, and:

I'll even hold my hands up on that one, after the gutless West Brom loss he was involved in last season my opinion of him shot right down and never really recovered, but this season in the games hes played IMO, has looked the best of our CM's and that includes Cabaye. Just wish he could stay fit, injuries are a constant issue with him.

I see. Always liked him but was pleasantly surprised with how well he did.

Yes, I'm aware it's an incredibly uncreditable source, but still.

We do need another winger, even if it is just on loan, just for some competition for Ober and Jonas, they've looked complacent these last few games.
