Crap, but it doesn't mean much if you narrow it to just games that suit you. How did you do on Saturday 17th December?
I didn't ask you about any random period, I asked you about you're last three games. Strikes me the honeymoon period is over.
We should have won all three, we were the best team in all three, we just couldn't get the roundy thing in the netty thing and we ended up gifting a daft goal in each(Boro was actually quite a good goal, but the defending and keeping weren't great). We're still outplaying everyone we face, we just need to improve our striking options are we're laughing.
It's not what the fans are saying, we keep getting headlines like 'Sucker Punch Defeats Barmby's Men'(Derby), 'Smash-and-grab Clarets hit Hull' and annoyingly, after beating us, every manager says we're they're the best team they've played this season.
To be honest a bid of £1M is no more than an indirect form of tapping up. Stewart now knows we want him but will see Hulls rejection as a block to his 'potentially prefered' move. In turn Stewart may now put pressure on Hull to sell/refuse to play/create disharmony in the dressing room. Its an unfortunate part of the game which will never stop. Leicesters main transfer barrier is that clubs will hold us to ransom knowing our excessive wealth. Swings and roundabouts
To play Devil's Advocate now to the Hull fans, could you not argue that it's a shrewd move on our part to signal our interest in the player with a bid that was never going to be accepted, then, if the player does want to move, he forces it through and we get a cut-price Cameron Stewart. If not, we haven't lost anything.
I think all we did with that bid was declare an interest, nothing else I dont think Nigel thought for 1 second that we was going to get him with that bid
Oh exactly - thats the whole intention here. If Mr Barmby was spiteful towards LCFC before then he certainly will be after these moves. But its part of the game now and happens at every level.
I think maynards refusal to move to Leicester city shows your not as big a draw for players as you think you are .. If Stewart leaves it will be to a bigger club .. I don't have anything against LcFc or NP .. He did a great job at Hull .. Come may it's going to be the foxes v the tigers in the play off final ......I don't envy any club ... Why the he'll would I ? I support Hull City simple as that ....
You make an assumption that he might want to leave, but that assumption has no basis in fact. He came through the Man United academy, four of the players he came through the academy with are also playing for us, three of them even share a house together. They are always together, they seem to eat together every night at Nando's(thanks twitter) and in every interview he's done, he's said how happy he is with us. He wants to be in the starting XI, he likes hanging out with his mates and it's not going to be easy to get him to leave, I definitely don't expect any transfer request.
Darn right - support your club...forget the rest. Do you not see that NP may be a draw for Stewart though?
It doesnt matter if we dont get Stewart, im sure Steve Walsh has already found someone else for us who will be better value for money and maybe even better then Stewart He found Stewart when he had a shoestring budget, now he has a bigger chequebook he can find even better players
Well, if I cast my mind back, we were having exactly the same conversation when Nigel came back and we know how that turned out But if I'm honest, and if most LCFC fans on here were, I don't think we expect a transfer request either. I doubt Nigel will be held to ransom over any players and I'd expect us to maybe try another bid just to let Cameron know we're interested (it's sad that football has come to this but hey) and then we'll probably move on to other targets. Jamie Ward at Derby has been mentioned. Wouldn't be surprised though to see Walsh pull out another gem of a kid that nobody's heard of. You never know, Stewart might feel some sort of affection towards NP given he was the one who gave him his chance and gave him first team football (unlikely given the way he left but you never know). But the ball is now in Stewart's court.
That's another reason I think Nigel has a problem coming back for our players, he told them he wasn't going anywhere, then almost immediately ****ed off. He didn't even go in to say goodbye to the players(Walshy and Shakey did) and when interviewed shortly after he'd gone both Chester and Stewart said they hadn't heard from him, not even a text(though he did text Barmby).
But it cant be such a lost cause as you describe otherwise NP would know not to even bother making an approach surely? If he knew the players were annoyed with him then bidding for their services would be a silly move. I think both clubs can agree that the Walshy/NP combo has been very shrewed in the transfer market...not silly.
