Now that we have MON at the helm what do can we expect based on sats?

Well if Bruce had been in chrage and maintained the average points per game total upto MON's appointment we were looking at 32pts for the season.

If we maintain out average points per game we now have that will give us 42pts

If we maintain (unlikely I know) the MON average to the end of the season we end up on 59pts.

So with Bruce we were heading forless points than have ever kept us up, with MON we could still have our best permier league total ever!

So do you think we can maintain the 2pts per game average under MOn and have our best ever season?

Not likely to maintain it but I believe we'll finish around 9th or 10th. The gap to the clubs sitting ibetween 7th and 10th is becoming less and less so there is an awful lot still up for grabs.

Walk before we can run is the important thing (quite appropriate given the state of our squad as well I think!!) and MoN will have them aiming for the 40 point mark first then anything else at the moment is a bonus.

We are about to start the first of 3 away fixtures in a row in a few hours (Including the cup and a trip to Chelsea) - There is no reason why we can't be optomistic about Chelsea as they are beatable if you get among them - although I wouldn't be unhappy to walk away from the 2 games with draws in each, a win tonight would be massive for us and, most likely (as has been mentioned) put us 10th!! Then we can start looking up a little more

Considering that Man City have an average of 2.3pts per game, and Spurs have 2.1, it seems kind of tricky. Unless you're now almost as good as Spurs.

When MON took over I would have been happy anything above 13th, still would be. Now ask about next season and we can take off.

Na we Can't keep it up. If we had Bent, and another top striker we would have a chance. I think we are still a bit lightweight up top.

To be honest, I thought we might be going down after chucking the wolves game away. I actually can't believe how quick thing's have turned.
10th place is now my aim again, but wouldn't be gutted with 12th. Like you say it's all about next season now.

got myself a new pair of rose tinted glasses, believe me we look much better than Spurs now - we will be challenging for top 4 by end of the season!

I know I started this one of but even I dont think that we will maintain 2pts per game for the rest of the season but I do think we could get 1.7 per game and that would give 53 pts at the end of the season. In the last four seasons that total would have placed us 8th, 9th, 7th and at worst 10th.

I will be very happy with that and a cup run as well

Can't see us keeping that up but, anything is possible I suppose. Still reckon anything above the relegation zone will do after that man nearly drowned us in mediocrity. Having said that and seen some of the teams down there I wouldn't be too disappointed with a 13th and above place finish, here's hoping eh.

Honestly, under MON, I can't see us finishing anywhere below 11th, perhaps as high as 7th although that's probably asking a bit much.

The way I see it, as I predicted right at the start, the top 6 is obvious, then ourselves, the mags, everton, villa and stoke wll be fighting it out for the next 5 places. I honestly think the 5 of us could finish in any order from 7th - 11th, though if I had to put money on it I'd probs go...

    7. Everton
    8. Us
    9. Stoke
    10. Villa
    11. Scum

    That's assuming:
    a) Stoke make decent progress in the europa, so their PL form suffer, and
    b) Mike Ashley invests sweet FA again in jan, and doesn't bring in backup for Tiote or Ba

So after tonight we have to update the target. If we continue the MON average we will finsh on 63 points.

In the last four seasons this would have been 5th, 7th,6th or 5th.

    Please dont wake me up!

i think top ten has to be the aim, at some point we will hit a run of poor form (hopefully not bruce-esque), we can't possibly keep on like this.

we are also light in defence and attack; if we can get a solid premier league centre half in (james collins will do nicely), and a goalscorer, i think we can consolidate a spot in the top ten.
