i seem to recall him giving evra fits. maybe he'll be fired up to make an impression for this. the kid often has me pulling my hair out but at the same time thats what he is... a kid. in footballing terms he's not exactly experienced but in terms of raw ability he does have it. he needs to learn to get his head up and cross etc but ability wise hes got something. i think pards will play him for pretty much the entire season to get him the pitch time he needs. like a long term investment.

Imagine how many goals Ba would get if we had one winger that could cross!

Also the site seems to have changed a bit and I can now see embedded videos <diva>

I think this just says it all. Despite Ba scoring all those goals, and despite all the goals we've scored so far, in-terms of assists:

    Cabaye - 5
    Ba - 3
    Best - 3
    Obertan - 3
    Ben Arfa - 2
    Jonas - 2
    Tiote - 2
Ameobi, Raylor, Saylor, Simpson, Marveaux - 1

Despite being wingers, and despite being our main form of attack down the vulnerable flanks, their combined assists is as much as one Cabaye, with Jonas having assisted as much as our defensive midfielder Tiote.

I'd expect them to each be on four a piece minimum if we want to target 7th or 8th.

Jonas cant cross with his left so either cuts in or has to stop and change feet, totally slowing the approach. Obertan runs until he sees a line then looks up and tries to drop a ball onto whoevers in the box, often waiting until they arrive. What he needs to be doing, like in the days of Ferdinand and Shearer is ping a ball in for players to arrive onto, creating far more power. If Ba or Best were running onto a ball they would be far more successful than having to take a dropping ball from standing amongst other defenders. Most of Bartons crosses were diagonals from 30+ yards, not straight balls from 10 yards out. Much harder for a keeper to claim or a defender to hustle out.

Easily the best thread/article I'v seen this year ;), pretty much hits the nail on the head and then some.

The wingers for me are the area of the team that are now holding us back from having the ability to break into the top 6. Even teams like Blackburn have far superior wingers to us (no disrespect), infact I'd like to see the likes of Morten Gamst pedersen at the club. Barton gave us a killer cross which made Carroll look maybe better then he actually is.

I'd personally like to see Obertan dropped hes had his chance and has blown it or is atleast not ready yet, put Jonas right midfield and maybe play Ferguson left. If we are going to blood a player into the team why not Ferguson he looks like he oozes creativity and skill.

You disagree with me, look at what O'Neill did down the road the other day against Citeh, threw in players like Mclean and Colback and got his just rewards! Infact he did it with Villa with Agbonlahor and Young.

To finish off my point look at what Hansen once infamously said.....you can't win the league with kids........We all know what then actually happened!

I have no idea how you've come up with this. But I couldn't disagree more. Obertan doesn't have ANY ability. And he is far from a kid, 23 next month.
