I don't really think he's good enough, I posted a while ago that I don't know why and can't back up my claims but I don't rate him.
He'll score goals for us that's for sure, but will he add anything else? Will he link up with strikers and bring the midfield in to play? I can't say he has that sort of ability, but then again the only thing we are lacking is goals. I wouldn't say no and I do think he'd be a great addition to the squad. I think the only question is the price, I wouldn't pay anything over 15m. Anything over than that we can get a much better player for the same price who does the same thing and more
they were saying on sky sports today that even 24 million wouldnt even get villa to sell him.And with the trouble villa are in i really doubt they would. So who would you bring in?
I wouldn't mind a shrewd loan until the end of the season, a bit like Arsenal with Henry No one springs to mind at the moment though so that thought is a bit useless
Said it once and say it again, Russian league is out for I think another 2 months, Samuel Eto'o still one of the best around and would add so much to our squad, scoring, pace, power, technique, craft, guile, charisma and will give suarez a chance to play with another "negrito".
No to Bent for me! Read something a few weeks ago saying Bent had the least amount of touches of all players in the league so far this season! Now of course that is a small statistic and probably not as vital as misses or % of converted chances but it shows how little Bent actually adds to the overall play of the team. At the kind of price Villa will want I would say no way; Bent will only ever take us so far, he may help us get to the champs league but then he becomes a bit like Defoe i.e not good enough to take us to the very top and in some ways a passenger in the side. Bent would score goals for sure but perhaps with the system we play would actually hinder some of our build up play and when we reach the next level and are looking to improve he is older and less likely to command a decent fee. I say go for a world class player now if possible, if not up front in midfield, for me its not so much needing a striker but just needing an extra bit of quality(like Suarez & Gerrard) to unlock defences. The only way I can see Bent arriving is if Mcleish wants Kuyt or Carrol, at around the 24mil they will want for Bent I would say no way!!!
Definitely not, not good enough, would cost prob £25m ,and would be a MASSIVE risk, may not come off, and 28 yo next month, more of a risk than Carroll who has age on his side Could get someone better, younger for £10m less from abroad I pray we arnt gonna go down the overpriced Brits route again If we wanna gola scorer Leandro Damiaoo for me!!!
my thoughts are thus... 2 years ago yes, now at 24mil? nope he's just peaked and is dropping off... no way would i pay that much for him. I really do think that, even at his age and how difficult it is at villa seeing their midfield imploded, that he has maybe seen his best period and will not get as many goals again.
Moving to Villa was a huge mistake, don't know why he did it? I would have him, but for the money he is probably worth I would rather someone foreign and better.
Bent has played for teams not feared by anyone so they will always play football and that leaves space for the likes of him. Put him in our team against a park the bus newly promoted and see how he does, I reckon we need someone who is a clever player who finds right passes and makes right decisions, VISION not pace, if we plan on keeping the ball and working openings against teams like Swansea, which we should be doing, then we need brains in and around the box, the contrast of what we have had and what Gerrard gave us when he came back is fkn stark!! It was actualy like a fresh breeze blowing through Anfield when he came on and got on the ball, finally someone intelligent with the ball and doesn't switch off after he passes it to someone and actually makes great runs, beats a player and deivers an accurate cross, are we asking too much?
Never rated him really I know he's a goalscorer but there are a lot of goalscorer's out there for far more reasonable price's that would have a better sell on value. Bent is overrtaed and overpriced imo.
I would prefer to get someone who is not going to cost the earth to go up top - we have Kuyt,Bellamy and Carroll so purely need a bit of back up for Suarez's ban. I'd rather spend the heavy money on a right winger, Bryan Ruiz anyone?

If that is true and it's for 10m+ (Which it most probably will be) His or Comollis transfer policy's has to be questioned I'll eat my words if Bent plays truly amazing for us of course
Ruiz wouldn't cost that much as Fulham think he isn't very good at all, the system he plays in is awful for him.
