I can't see us making any big signings in January, but we definitely need another striker, as Chamakh and Park are garbage and I'm not sure how effective Henry will actually be. Surely there's some money for players? It's not exactly like we're not a profitable football club?

the problem has been the same for a long time now.

a great first team, but a poor squad. look at the bench - no-one to come on and change the game. it was a mistake taking both Theo & Gervinho off, but they were both shattered as they've played so much football already.

it's the absolute Arsenal standard season. you can name the first 11 for EVERY game - and that means so can the opposition. they can set up to counter that, knowing there will be no tactical shift, nor personnel shift. Wenger sets up to play the Arsenal way, and the team eventually get found out after a few games.

Conversely, Man Utd etc. set up to play the opposition they're up against, which not only makes them harder to find out, but also provides more rotation, keeping players fresher for longer. the major flaw of Arsenal is a distinct lack of quality in depth.

Ah the myth of the Arsenal cheque book. I've heard a lot about it but have never seen it. Has anyone here?

A mythical object, a legend much like the unicorn. Rumours abound but no concrete evidence exists.

I think Wenger was probably right to sub Walcott and Gervinho, but he should have brought another like for like player on. Arshavin would have been the obvious choice. Once we lost our wingers, we only had RVP as an outlet, and nothing was sticking. Hence the pressure just built up.

Agreed about our squad. We need better quality in depth. I think Wenger made the right choice when he bought players like Arshavin, Chamakh, Squillaci ect, they all looked like good players - and have had good form for Arsenal. But I think it's clear that we need better quality. Injuries, ironically have been pretty well covered in the positions that we've suffered most, at the back. But going forward, other than RVP, we've been offering little.

My money (wish list) would be on Goetze (to replace Fabregas) and an attacking Left sided forward (Podolski or Hazard)
