But we need to sell at least 4 and buy big. RELAX - you know that ain't gonna happen - Wenger is happy with the squad he's built.
If the right player becomes available (An attacking left sided one in my opinion) then I think we need to buy.
Defo need a new striker... can't see where it will come from though. We need defensive reinforcements as well.
Knowing Wenger though, he will say we have quality players coming back from injury and therefore do not need to invest in the squad... anything to try and save a few quid.
I think we need to buy quality too. For that to happen, the player has be be available though, so we have to be realistic with our appraisal of the transfer landscape. If we want players like Hazard or Goetze, then I think we're going to need to break our transfer record, by some margin. You're right to point out that bringing quality players in isn't going to happen overnight though.
I think we have quality in most areas, but our squad definitely needs a bit more of an edge. When players are out or off form, then we seem to struggle. I'd like to see us recreate a squad that players are begging to join.
That doesn't necessarily apply. Fabregas, Nasri, Rooney, Berbatov, Torres etc. all weren't available when they moved. I know it's a bit distasteful, but you have to be willing to make players force a move sometimes if you want to compete at the sharp end.
I think the money is there for a top player, the trouble is that one has to become available. Wenger will not overspend on an player if he doesn't represent value for money. I think we're one of the only top clubs who haven't thrown big cash around. However, whilst we're not renowned for splashing the cash, if we want to buy players like Goetze or Hazard, then I think the board will have to stay true to their promise that they would sanction a £30m buy if Wenger thought it was fit to do so.
Apart from Fabregas (who was undervalued) the rest of those players went for more money than they are worth in my opinion.
