I would like today that i was at the game today and have seen highlights of the game. Firstly we lost the game down to one man. Andy D'Urso. He was so bad. Everything that happened went brightens way. His first mistake (probably the linesman's as well) they failed to spot that Jack Corks shot from jut inside the box was clearly over the line. Secondly he booked dan harding for a superb tackle, which then let to him being subbed as he was at risk of being sent off, not down to a bad performance. Thirdly he failed to spot a penalty on Lambert. He was clearly pushed in the box when the ball was coming in from the right hand side. Then in the 50th minute the worst refereeing decision of the century happened. He sent Lambert off. Lambert was on the floor with El-abd who had just fouled him which the ref had also failed to see. Lambert then tried to get up but El Abd held onto his leg and would not let go so that rickie could not fetch the ball. then all of a sudden El Abd is rolling around on the floor. Over comes Andy and shows rickie a straight red card. This was right under his nose and clearly didn't see el abd could rickie first and then second, only spotting rickie push him off himself. For the brighton first goal Kelvin should not be spilling such an easy shot. He should be catching it comfortably. This cost us today. This also cost us against Bristol City. We seriously need to give bart another chance, or purchase a new keeper. I am sure that nigel will give bart a chance at cov in the cup. We absolutely dominated this game when it was 11 vs 11 and 10 vs 10. Any brighton fan or saints fan who disagrees is clearly has mental problems. Finally we need to sign a forward, winger, centre back, midfielder (less more so on the last one) PS Aaron Martin has played well in both games and has not put a foot wrong.
Bart should get the FA cup game, if he doesn't, then we can assume we're buying another back up keeper. Dirty Brighton, thats all I've got to say about the match, dirty dirty brighton. Even Poyets comments after the game make me think, dirty.
IMO we need a new goalkeeper. If Bart made these two mistakes against bristol City and Brighton today we wouldn't hear the end of it.
I posted on twitter about Kelvin after the game today. He makes one outstanding save but then doesn't back it up by holding onto a simple one. Don't get me wrong he is a great bloke and has been very loyal for us but I just think we should sign a new up and coming keeper for the premier league.
He was unfortunate that the ball bounced right in front of him, but he was still at fault. Successive games now that the opposition have had a pop from a distance, and been presented with a fairly straight forward rebound to put in.
Lambert deserved his red card. Hit out at El-Abd after being held back. Admittedly El-Abd made a huge meal of it, but that doesn't make hitting out any less of an offence. Surprised you missed that eos. Kelvin isn't perfect, but he's still a very good keeper. I say keep faith in him and review his position in the summer.
Sorry where you at the game? i have the replay and he is just tangled with lambert and then al of a sudden bounces away holding his face, no evidence that he hit him.
I was at the game although I haven't seen the replay, where did you see the replay? I saw Lambert fling an arm at El-Abd.
The incidents were shown on Sky Sports news. As I said, Lambert did not fling an arm or throw an elbow, he pushed with a flat hand to get the Brighton "hard-man" off him and he looked liked he made contact with his chest, but of course the tosspot held his face instantly, like most foreign players do. Greer's elbow on Forte was vicious. He blind sided him on the side of the head.
Think there was weakness shown throughout the team today not just in our quality but also lack of experience! Adkins - don't know what he is playing at, at the moment, don't get me wrong I am a big fan normally but some of his tactics and subs of late have left me when and truly baffled! Lambert - although 29 years old and well travelled and experienced player should bloody know not to do that, it's not just today but the next 3 games we don't have him! Kelvin - 1 of the basic rules of being a keeper is don't push the bloody ball out into the danger area, common sense! I am not asking for an Arsene Wenger style panic buy session however it may just nudge Adkins and Cortese to dig a little bloody deeper a little quicker!!! We have achieved way above and beyond the expectation this year but I'm not sure everybody knows how hard it is to get out of this league! We are still top and I truly expect Cortese to fully go for it this January!!!!
No it's not. There would be 8 red cards a game if that was the case. Come on, you've been watching football long enough to know the dirty fouls and dirty players and the ones who deserve to be punished.
