Lots of us have been complaining about it recently and I have two things to say about it.

Firstly I believe if we are to stop playing hoofball Pardew needs to get Tim Krul to play it short more often. I don't blame the defence for hoofing as sometimes there are situations where you have to hoof it. Also the matches where we play the least hoofball are the ones where Krul plays it short the most.

Secondly, and this may not make me very popular, I think we should consider keeping our hoofball tactics for the Man Utd match. Their defence it looking very weak and we could target Carrick especially. I'm not saying play it long every attack, as their central midfield is quite weak, just that it may be very effective given the state of their defence.

Whatever tactics we employ we will be destroyed I'm afraid.

Don't want see hoofball ever! Football should be played the right way, by passing along the floor.

Let us collectively pray that Best's name stays well away from the team sheet against Man U.

That said, did you see how effectively Liverpool closed us down? if Man U do the same then it won't take long for frustration to sink in and hoofball become a last resort. :(

Yes but with the form Tiote's in and with Pardew refusing to play Ben Arfa passing football's not going to go very well against a good team like Man Utd.

This we are not using Cabaye aswell as we can if it goes over head. We should load the box get as many crosses in as possible and shoot on sight if DeGea plays

Hate hoof ball, rather drag my scrotum across broken glass then watch Newcastle play that.

Rather we attempt to play instead of kick it all the way up the pitch pointlessly.

That's a little negative and people are expecting to much of Tiote.

Man United expect to have Smalling and Ferdinand back so it wont be a weak defence. I know hoofball can work at times but this isnt one of them.

We need Ba to lead the line, not Best/Shola as they invite long balls from defence. Krul playing it out from the back more often would help as well.

I'm just suggesting using it a bit for one match so we can get a point or three rather than lose (and also if you read the post again I said not to use it as our only tactic).

I'm confused by the hoofball tactic. We clearly play worse when we use it so i don't understand why Pardew would get the players to conciously play it long all the time. I have a feeling that some of it is bought on by a slight lack of confidence at the moment

Agree. But we need someone to win the headers. Best was doing it well at the beginning of the season but since Stoke he's never really had an impact in games. So I think that we should play Shola and for the umpteenth time, I'm damn serious.

For that brief period when we played it on the deck against Liverpool we looked bloody good. 1 and 2 touch passes and Pardew must realise that we looked 10x a better side.

also with hoof ball there's only a 50% chance you'll actually win/keep the ball.
