    Ouch thats bloody harsh. Was it tongue in cheek or serious???

    Hopefully, Tash will just be angry and will come back. I know he gets on peoples nerves but he does actually contribute a lot of great things to this forum (whether intentional or not).

    Yep, no idea. I've seen somebody take offense to its use once before which is why I expected a mild nuclear fall out on behalf of some people present. To my knowledge, as far as up to date English is concerned, it has all but lost its Irish racial slur meaning and simply works as a synonym for chav or benefits-abusing low lifes in general.

    Even in my school it was referred to as lower classes/chavs. The relation to gypsies doesn't even specifically mean Irish people either as they're worldwide. I didn't even know it was apparently racist until today <yikes>
