If what we hear is true about Mr Lee coming from Japan we should be excited, - decent player in a strong league and getting into the Japanese team is not bad - they are a good side the best in Asia after South Korea probably and think of the potential world wide exposure Southampton FC would have in Asia - shirt sales (fake), Asia tours.... I would not be surprised with this as a move - wasn't Cortese keen on developing Southampton as a global brand as well as getting us to the Premiership?

Japan is a huge market to be aiming at...would be a very ambitious move on Cortese's part...

Japan’s Lee linked with Saints switch
    1 hour, 37 minutes ago

tweet4EmailPrintTOKYO, Jan 2 (Reuters) - Japan striker Tadanari Lee could soon joining English club Southampton after agreeing terms with the Championship (second division) leaders, local media reported on Monday.

The Saints have made a formal offer for the 26-year-old, Sanfrecce Hiroshima’s technical committee chief Hidekazu Orita has been informed, according to the Nikkan Sports newspaper.

Lee famously volleyed a superb winning goal for Japan in last year’s Asian Cup final against Australia in Doha to give the Blue Samurai a record fourth continental title.

Southampton must secure a work permit for Lee, born to Korean parents and scorer of 15 goals in 32 games for J.League side Hiroshima last year, to take him to England’s south coast.

looks like he has agreed terms.

I'm really not sure about this Japanese fella, surely we need someone who has been playing in England regular, he would take time to adjust

I have asked the Mods to delete my previous comment . I would like to point out however that I have asked them to do this as with hindsight I feel it should not have been posted on this Thread as it was O/T . If there was a joke thread , I would have posted it on there and NOT removed it . I have NOT asked for it to be removed because I have had my mind changed as a result of something posted by a faceless keyboard warrior , who decides to include my Mum on his post . You SCH007 obviously have never laughed at something others percieve to be " Sick " .............

There are plenty of foreigners who come to English clubs and adapt very quickly.

This is on the BBC sport transfer gossip:

Japan striker Tadanari Lee, who scored the winning goal in last year's Asian Cup final against Australia in Doha, could be joining Southampton after agreeing terms with the Championship side, according to reports in Japan. Saints must now obtain a work permit for the 26-year-old. (Nikkan Sports newspaper)
