The game is to be played at 8.00PM on the 3rd of January 2012 and is available on Sky Sports 1 and BBC Radio Five Live. Preview. After a 1-1 draw at Anfield in late November, both Manchester City & Liverpool go into this game at the Etihad Stadium needing the three points in order to keep up their ambitions for the season. The home side, Manchester City, currently sit 1st in the table with 45 points from 19 games. Despite a couple of disappointing results in their past two games (A 0-0 draw with West Brom & a 1-0 loss at Sunderland.) City have enjoyed an excellent season so far. The highlight of the season so far would obviously be the 6-1 victory at Manchester United in which they tore United to pieces. They have also scored 5 against Norwich City & Spurs and put 4 past Swansea, Blackburn and Aston Villa. This shows that they have players which pose serious threats to opposition defences. Add to this a strong defence and outstanding squad depth, Manchester City look like a very strong side. With players like Vincent Kompany, David Silva & Mario Balotelli, City have players which could hurt any team and Liverpool will need to play well to keep these players quiet. The away side, Liverpool, currently sit 6th in the table with 34 points from 19 games. Despite many draws at home against teams that, on paper, they should be beating, Liverpool are only 2 points off fourth place and a Champions League place. Liverpool's problem has been their home form this season. 4 wins and six draws from our 10 league games at Anfield this season. If we had been able to turn two of those draws into wins, Liverpool would be sitting fourth now. Liverpool's defence has been excellent this season with just 8 goals conceded at home and just 7 away from Anfield. This gives us the strongest defence in the league. If Liverpool could start taking more of our chances that we create, we could be sitting in an even better postion. With Steven Gerrard coming back to full fitness, could Stevie G link up with Andy Carroll & Luis Suarez to start banging in the goals? There isn't a better place to start than at Manchester City... Nice work Chris - and at short notice. This will easily be our hardest game of the season, but if we can hold firm then I think we can get something out of it. Heart says 3-2 Liverpool, head says 2-2.
Think we can. I think they will attack from the off. If we can hold on then chances will come. The longer it goes on the better. The pressure is on to win so they are likely to leave gaps at the back that the likes of Bellers, Stevie, Suarez and Maxi can exploit.
Lies, you will be to busy watching the game, in your Liverpool shirt, whilst browsing the Liverpool forum. (as usual)
Hang on a minute there Bow, let me think. Oh ea, here you go mate: Manchester United 2-3 Bottom of league Rovers Yak had a bit to much class, for the future England captain Phil *messi* Jones.
