Great win today. That's what Martin O'Neil can get from players; he's a genius. Haven't seen the goal so can't comment on whether it was off-side or not but who cares, it was 1-0. Even if it has been disallowed it would have been 0-0 which would have been a fantastic and well deserved result. Congratulations on moving up to 13th, 6 points clear of the relegation zone.
It was marginally offside, but for me Sunderland deserved the win anyway for the way they battled. Well done to them. They beat the leaders with a makeshift side.
I couldn't tell it was offside at the time but I guess we were lucky to get all three points... for once these things have evened out within days (Everton 'penalty') I thought we were very good value for a point although I was bricking it when I saw how makeshift our team looked before the game... and I think we learned a lesson from WBA against City... defend solidly (easier said than done) and hit them on the counter. Perfect tactics given the difference in the two teams and shows an astute manager. Anyone who thinks we should have gone all out attack just because we were at home is crazy. A well earned point aginst the top team would have been a good result; stealing the win was a bonus and it made me very, very happy.
o'neill is not a genius, man city completely dominated the game and it was a game that would 99 times out of a 100 be a city win, sunderland just got unbelievably lucky on the day.. by the way o'neill is only a genius if you give him big money to spend
oneil is a genius as all Leicester fans will tell you, 4 top 10 in four seasons in the P.L, 2 L.C before he left us to go to Celtic, good luck to you Sunderland fans, you have one hell of a manager
99 times out of a 100, well they didn't beat WBA and it was just the same as today so I guess that makes it 98 times then? MON is a bloody god!
You obviously know very little about football: Manchester City have spent hundreds of millions of pounds bringing in excellent players and a very good manager, but that does not give them the right to win games, Martin O'Neill got the tactics spot on today and the players were disciplined and kept their shape. We allowed City to pass the ball around in positions that would not hurt us and won the ball in positions that would. If that upsets Mr Mancini and his megastars then tough, they have to be good enough to win games, just as Martin O'Neill’s tactics were good enough not to get beat. Manchester United played open expansive football against City and got turned over at Old Trafford, we contained them and hit them on the break and were rewarded with the three points. Football is about tactics and ours worked today, under Bruce we would have been turned over against City but this is what Martin O'Neill is about; don't expect pretty football, expect solid, tactical performances from players with belief in the system, that’s why Mr O’Neill is a great manager
I'm sorry, but in which way did we get lucky? Was it luck that our defenders played so well? Man City had most of the possession in the middle of the park and to be perfectly honest we had the best chances.
These two quotes are so hypocritical when you consider the things that have been said by mackems to explain our good results But in all fairness I was gutted you won today, although you probably deserved it and if it was any other team but yous, would have been the kind of moment to make hairs stand on end.
well, if you put 10 men behind the ball, park the bus for 90 minutes, then get a break on 90 minutes, score an offside goal and win 1-0 i call that lucky, by all means be delusional and say o'neill is a genius but if you look at his record at villa, it was based on getting in players on big wages and big fees that the club couldnt afford. as soon as they wanted to reign in the spending he scarpered, leaving the club in deep **** and his legacy there is players like dunne and ireland on £70k plus a week, as well as signing several duds..
So what you are really saying is that you got a kick out of our victory and that you feel guilty about how you feel... Between you and me, Man City got all the decisions that were going off the ref, so if we got away with a dodgy decision at the end then justice was done..
Hypocritical if I said that, which I didn't. So it's not hypocritical. Okay, well you're wrong imo, we set up to counter which didn't always come off because Man City are a fantastic team. We defended superbly which is nothing to do with luck. O'Neill spends the money he's given it's up to the board to run the club.
