The second return game of the season sees Pompey come to face their manager’s first ever fixture in charge. PORTSMOUTH • The Manager – Michael Appleton View attachment 8996 “After a performance like that – especially after last week and after the second-half performance – I think we’ll feel a little bit disappointed we haven’t got all three points, ut it’s one of those games where you take the point and keep racking them up.” ” Apart from the goal we conceded, we defended well and we looked very hard to beat. It was quite a positive performance – especially in the second half” “We’ve worked really, really hard in training and hopefully we’re getting a bit of reward for that work.” • Pompey Stephen Henderson Aaron Mokoena, Jason Pierce, Joe Mattock, Tal Ben-Haim Hayden Mullins - goal 87 mÃn., Liam Lawrence, David Norris, Erik Huseklepp Dave Kitson - caution 79 mÃn., Marko Futacs - goal 54 mÃn. - caution 89 mÃn. It was a nearly performance and then we really turned the screw with ten men, which can be hard to do because it’s very awkward to play against so I was really, really pleased with the last half-an-hour after the sending off.” “We played well in the first half without that moment of quality to really open the door. We never looked in particular trouble and controlled reasonable parts of it. And then a soft ten minutes at the beginning of the second half allowed them to get back in it and the game was just going a bit flat. And then we just managed to build momentum.” “Then the sending off and after that I was so pleased with the way the players controlled the game because it’s very difficult when you play against ten men. I’ve done it and it’s difficult, so the way they handled it was really important and really pleasing for me.” • The Hornets Scott Loach - sent off 82 mÃn. Lee Hodson, Nyron Nosworthy, Adrian Mariappa - caution 66 mÃn., Carl Dickinson - caution 56 mÃn. Update on the Hornet's latest statistics Who will win? Current form Portsmouth have a six match run without defeat at Fratton Park with only a draw against local rivals Southampton showing any quality, the wins were all against teams in the bottom third of the league. The goals total is impressive with 12 marked and four lost. Their last defeat was against Millwall and before that was Michael Appleton’s debut as the first team manager. Watford have started to play better on their travels and only the defeat at Middlesbrough, to an offside goal, is the only recent black mark. Nine goals is all their 11 league matches is nothing to be proud of especially with six coming in three matches only. As a plus Watford are unbeaten anywhere for eight games against Portsmouth’s one match. Akureyri's Prediction: 1-2 Portsmouth will be looking to take something more than a point from LeicesterCity from their three Christmas and New Year matches but the travelling Hornets will return to Hertfordshire with all the points from their journey to the seaside. skál/skÃ¥l/cheers/salut Don't forget Drop in for some match chat in The Hornets' Nest II Travellers may want some information about Portsmouth. please log in to view this image
This one I think is tight and despite my yellow tinted specs in the prediction league my head says this one will end goaless...
Good one AK. Not sure about your prediction though - I think this game will be the hardest test of our unbeaten run, so going for a draw myself. Although after yesterday's goal deluge, anything is possible.
Funny how the BB text works sometimes and not at others the link to The Hornets' Nest II always needs to be adjusted as it opens with a text setting command and loses the first URL command. My rough text is correct and Igo and visit again after every thread is posted. I could make excuses for too much beer last night.
Obviously i predicted 1-3, though i have to admit to being nervous..but then, i am for every game! lol...so..i think it'll be tough, but i also think they'll expect to beat us, which will work in our favour. I'm looking forward to going, hopefully there'll be a good Hornets crowd .
well, that answers the first question: http://www.footballcourier.com/news/story/738994/trio-to-end-hornets-stay/full_story.html
