I didn't say Cabaye has been ****, but overall I think hes been far too anonymous in the majority of our games this season, hes supposed to be the player that makes things happens in the middle of the park and I don't think he does enough. Hes not **** though by any means.

Based upon how well Sunderland are performing under O'neill already, and how toothless we look and the fact we're losing Ba and Tiote, I think Sunderland will close the gap, O'Neill is a better manager than Pardew, the records speak for themselves and the fact Sunderland managers are normally backed with funds means I think they will flourish and we will decline.

My comment about Tiote I admit was mostly in frustration, but hes been very poor. Hope he can regain some of last seasons form after the AcON if we haven't sold him by then.

You didn't say Cabaye has been far too anonymous, you said he has been "completely anonymous for 75% of games this season". If a player is "completely anonymous" for a football match then that is a **** performance because he has evidently done absolutely nothing for 90 mins.

Seems to me that we have looked toothless in the last few games because we've had a strange shift in tactics which clearly hasn't worked. We haven't been hoofballing it all season like we saw against Liverpool. Pardew looked to want an Anfield draw - which worked for so many teams before us but we just played far too terrible for that to work out on the day. If Martin O'Neill took over Sunderland when we were, say, 10 games into our unbeaten season and Sunderland were wallowing by relegation would you have said that you expect them to finish higher then? It seems to me that you're taking this bad run to heart when you say this, and you seem unable to envision us getting back a good winning streak. It's not as though we're having all of our best players ripped out of our team for months on end for the ACoN.

Agree there on Tiote, hoping that soon he will put in some performances that remind us of how good he can be, and how good he was last season.

Well of course not completely anonymous that was a bit of an over reaction on my part I can hold up my hands and admit that, I was fuming at the time <laugh>
But I still stand by the point that Cabaye doesn't influence games anywhere near where he should for the talent we've seen him have in flashes.

I just think overall across the season from now Sunderland will pick up more points under O'NEILL than we will, I admit when we were unbeaten I wouldn't have been as concerned but I would still be looking over my shoulder for them and would believe they can finish near abouts where we would and of course with inevitable transfer money given to O'neill and our lack of convinces me even more that they will be above us.

Well this is my point! Negative hyperbole is negative, if you get too knee jerk upset over stuff and admittedly over react, it just comes accross like Private Frazer. <laugh>

You're right that O Neill works well with money though, I'm just not convinced that they'll be able to spend it amazingly well this month as they aren't in the most prospectively attractive of positions.

Have to say, I think you might be overreacting a bit there lol. We certainly look a much better side under O'Neill, but alot of teams flourish briefly under new managers, I'd be very, very suprised if we keep this sort of form up until the end of the season. Stranger things have happened, mind.

I think you lot will get over this little blip and be ok (barring a mass clearout of your best players by Mike Ashley in January... He wouldn't, would he??), can't see us finishing above you this season tbh, the gap is too large. I do think it will close a bit with MON in charge though. I think the derby at your place will be very interesting as I reckon there will be less than 3 points between us at that point, should be a cracking game.. Unforunately, you's always win the bloody things!!!

Now, next season, that could be a different story... We'll surely be title contenders!! <laugh>

I'm going to see how Sunderland perform after the honeymoon period that they're currently in. However, a good win for them today, they look better now than they did under Brucey.
