Reports on Sky Sports say that we are in advanced talks with this Japanese forward over a possible deal... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/7403123/Saints-eye-Asian-star Don't know anything about him but is an International player... Anyone heard anything of this? What are your thoughts?
How can you say a player is only league 1 standard when he hasn't even played in England and actually plays for his country?
The fact that he is struggling with Coventry and knowing how tough the Prem is you can sort of gage how good a player will be in another league
but he's not struggling with coventry, he's scored more goals than maynard and rodriguez while having awful service in the worst team in the league. give him a chance
And Sharp has scored even more (and in fewer games) for a team who right this second, are even worse than Coventry. I do not want us going for Lukas (again, sorry mate!) whilst Sharp is still an option.
i'd prefer sharp as well, but i just feel it is foolish to write off a player with no evidence of him being ****
Agree about wanting Sharp but the 'rumour-mill' has it that he's being lined up for a lowly premiership club; someone like Wigan. So seems unlikely that he would join us; especially as his desire seems to have always been to saty 'up't North'! Hopefully MMH I am proven completely wrong!
Don't be daft mate, the J-league is probably the fastest growing league in the world. Some real talent has come out of it, you should read up on the set up they have over there, astonishing.
Plus the fact nobody's ever seen him play. Jut from Coventry would also be a great player playing off Lambert.
I think that we will bring jukebox in along with this Lee fella. Also a winger and a defender to come no idea who though.
You can not judge a player from a YouTube vid. What you also have to realise is he will have to adapt to this league aswell. Which would mean slowly bringing him through, of course there is a chance he could just take to it like a duck to water. But more often then not players from foreign leagues take time to settle. We can't afford that, we need players as soon as possible. That's why I think we will go for a few championship players, that have that extra bit of something. So could probably make it in the prem.
The fact that most of the main players have now been secured on long contracts suggests that they will form the framework of next season's team (PL or not), so can't see us buying many players now. Agree with BeefDripping, any new players have to hit the ground running.
Jutkiewicz is playing for a **** team, don't forget. A striker is only as good as the service he gets.
I've heard that we are prepared to go up to £3million for Lukas Jutkievicz. I would trust what ever Nigel and Nicola done in this window because what they have done in the past has worked brilliantly! But surely we want a poacher in the box and not another 'Lambert type' player? He's 6ft 1" and isn't the fastest of striker's. I would much rather Sharp or this Tadanari Lee over him but I'll go with whatever they do. (If they do it)
I disagree, I think we've got enough quality to play off Lambert but I feel we would struggle if Lambert get's injured. Also, I think Jutkiewicz could work well playing off Lambert as well
Vaz Te has rejected a new deal with Barnsley and his contract is up at the end of the season. Don't know much about him but he has 10 in 20 games this season. Leeds have also signed Townsend from Spurs on loan till the end of the season. Good bit of business for them.
We want player's thats going to start not act as back-up. We need to improve our first team and then the back-up's will sort themselves out in the end. Lee, Sharp or Jutkiewicz, and I'll be happy!
