Just like to wish Sean a Happy New Year....You took a lot of stick at first(myself included). You are now getting returns for your perseverance and I congratulate you on your recent results, hope Bas doesn't pull the carpet from under you in the transfer window. May I take this opportunity to wish you, your family, players, backroom staff and all their families a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Keep up the good work.
Agreed. Can't believe after his tough start we're now 2pts behind Brighton/leicester and definately on the up. Let's hope we remain unbeaten well into 2012
Spot on Vic - we have a manager who is growing into the job, yeah making some mistakes, but from what I see he has a squad of players who give everything for him and our club. I am sure there are a lot of us who questioned some of SD decisions and tactics, I will put my hands up as well - but the big difference is the way we went about it. We had those discussions in our pubs, on the Rookery and on the internet, but at no time did we voice it at games. We have stayed as one behind SD and the team - just compare that to that poor sod at Blackburn and the disgusting way he has been treated and how some of those bastards must be feeling tonight! So, I am with you, happy New Year SD and the team and all me fellow supporters...it is still so wonderful being a Watford supporter as we enter 2010. Nice thread and 5*'s from me...
Me too I was wrong Sean sorry! you have done an awesome job so far! when can we see the likes of Murray and Assambalonga?
Happy New Year Eveybody! Sean has done a Great job and I wish him a great new year! I was one of the people that stuck with Sean, while a lot of people wanted him fired. COYH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I back Sean and have done without question to date. I'll judge him and bazzer on the season and the bigger picture. As I see it we're currently in a good place and indeed a better place than the last few seasons with more depth and more options, thanks for a great 2011 and looking forward to even better things to come, viva la rollercoaster thats watford fc............COYH
love this thread...! As you know, i never started to doubt that SD would do a good job...i trusted him, and i'm glad it wasn't misplaced...not that i ever thought it would be. He had a darn tough job to begin with, alongside starting a new job...and he's dealt with it amazingly! And yes w_y, that point is a good one. i can't imagine Watford doing to SD what Blackburn have done to SK, i feel for the bloke, but am glad he's had a chance to prove himself too!
Putting things into perspective, SAF found himself in the sorry situation yesterday of having to have 5 untried youngsters on the bench during their home defeat by Blackburn - shock, horror! I feel oh so sorry for him but am glad we have stuck with SD who has had to endure similar tribulations & has come through the other end smelling the roses (well, so far!). Well done SD
SAF rested a lot of players (including Rooney) he didnt give Blackburn enough respect ! I for one was happy to see that decision bite him !!
'Rested' being a euphemism for 'dropped' apparently - if the press stories are true about 'Gascoine-esque' misbehaviour!
I worry for SAF and his problem child. Mrs F must be in WRs target age range now. His untried substitutes bench should have been lent to us or Little Fs Posh team.
I don't know about you all, but I usually give someone who has had some sort of history with Watford more leeway than those who hasn't. Taking the last 4 managers, Mackay and Dyche have had more leeway from me than Rodgers and Boothroyd had.
I've always urged patience with Dyche. It's his first managerial job and he had a squad that needed to gel. Things like this take time, but as I've said through compared to last season we have a much better squad, so I think we will do well this season. Don't worry, I won't be talking about the play-offs just yet, but safe mid-table is well within our reach.
