Based on today that's all of our team bar McKenna ruled out.

As for McShane, he was really very bad. I don't see how he would be any better playing CB, he just seems to be in the complete wrong place when the ball is in the air, he just can't get underneath the ball, it's like he has to deal with a strong, swirly wind that affects no one else. e moves way too fast over a short space and yet when he needs to chase someone he's snail-like.

Wasn't just his fault today though, I thought Chester and Hobbs had great games but both ****ed up royally for the goal (more than Gulacsi imo) and Hobbs missed an absolute sitter in the first half. McShane was gash but didn't really affect the game a great deal.

For over 3 years I've been saying McShane should have chosen a different way of earning a living and that he was a walking disaster as a soccer player but when he was out of sight and out of mind so many people on this board made excuses and stated he was at least acceptable as a back up for more than one position as a championship player.I see that at last some of you have woken up and smelled the coffee. The Ginga Ninja has NO attributes as a soccer player whatsoever and has been accepting money under false pretenses and we should demand a refund .Another Tanman cock up.

    agree with this. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

whilst Macca did nothing to stop Rosie coming straight back he was not as bad as many thought at the game. some of our so called fans shouting at him is a disgrace. but i feel it does not matter how good or bad macca now plays As just because his name is McShane gets him the abuse. Good luck Macca for the future but i agree you are never a starter for City.

As I didn't go yesterday, can someone explain how Macca's performance contributed to a defeat by a side who have universally described us as the best team they've played?

stopped at least 5 or 6 potential attacks, by either letting the ball run under his foot for a throw in, or showing a 1st touch of an elephant...maybe weve been spoilt in the last few years in having rosenoir and ricketts, who are probably both better wingers then actual defenders, and we expect too much from a defender in the attacking sense, but its just basics of the game which he just cant do, defender or not.

We should be walking this league when he doesn't play then.

It's not unique to us, but it's sad that so called supporters need to have a perpetual scapegoat. Better people than us have decided he's not only good enough to play for us in a side described as the best this season, but to represent his Country.

Given a choice, I think I'll favour the view of experts whose well paid careers depend on their decisions.

pretty sure barmby played him as he had little other option, dont know him myself but im pretty confident if i ever got the chance to ask him, he wouldnt pick him by choice.

In spite of the views of other managers at club and country level?

As I put, I'll pay more heed to experts that have a vested interest than people fashionably hunting a scapegoat.

If Macca had been a part of that mix up between Hobbs and Gulacsi, I'd bet Gulacsi would get les stick as people claim the defender should have spotted the hesitation and buried the ball into the crowd.

in your view then, no professional footballer ever, should come in for any criticism, because they have been selected by somebody somewhere, pretty ,much makes boards like this irrelevant.
as i said above, i stuck up for mchane before yesterday, said i thought hed do ok, based on what i saw yesterday with my own eyes he was awful.
no he wasnt responsible for the goal, and im not saying he was the reason we lost, but he certainly didnt help the chances of bouncing back from the error. when nearly every attempt to go down that side was cut off, dawson ran himself ragged 2nd half, as nearly every attack had to be directed that way...
scapegoat is the word of the moment on here, people use it too often, sometimes somebody who plays ****, just plays ****, theres no need for a word for it.
i dont really like debating things with people who werent there, (no offence), as i find it hard to have a balanced discussion when one person has seen something, and others havent.
your right about the goal, but as i have already said elsewhere, i blame hobbs just as much as gulasci, i dont have favourites or "scapegoats" i just call what i see on the day.

Criticism's fine, it's the continued, selective abuse of specific players I'm talking about.

Some players can do no wrong, some never get mentioned because they go missing, leaving their cover (often people like McShane) to take the short sighted comments.

As for not going yesterday, I take your point, but I thought it being a wider issue was self-evident.

The fact you confirm he didn't cost us the game confirms my point.

No-one is suggesting that he cost us the game, just that he was completely and utterly bloody useless.

This is nothing to do with finding a scapegoat, it's nothing to do with his name, the simple fact is that yesterday Paul McShane played like someone who'd never actually played in a football match before, he was seriously that bad. He misjudged everything, he fluffed every tackle, he fluffed every pass, there was not one redeeming feature in his performance yesterday and I hope it was his last for us.

So your wish that it's his last game for us is based purely on yesterday's performance?

Incredible in every sense of the word.

I said ahead of the game that the thought of Rodriguez being up against McShane filled me with dread.

That's because I've watched him for over three years now and he's utterly crap, so no, it's not just based on yesterdays performance.

The best performance Paul McShane ever put in for us, was when he wiped his armpits with Rory Delap's towel at Stoke away and threw it all the ball girl.

    Which confirms my points really.

If McShane is to leave it's a good job Kilbane's back here or we'd have to buy in a whole new whipping boy.
