Went down by 10% last year. Remind me how Fordstam are doing paying Abramovich back his 3/4 of a billion quid? This. I think City are finally waking up to the fact that they have put too many players on excessive wages. Adebayor and Tevez are the obvious examples - squad players who are on more than most other clubs star players. With the players unwilling to take wage cuts, City are going to find it really hard to shift them permanently. The last I heard was that City would have to work out some deal with Spurs to offer them a massive discount on the upfront fees in order to cover Adebayor's wages if Spurs were to take him permanently. City currently pay £5 million a year towards his £8.5 million wages and he's not willing to drop them at all. I've heard rumours City might let him go for free, losing £14 million on his buyout clause, effectively just to allow Spurs to cover the extra part of his bloated wages for three years. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...cut-to-seal-permanent-move-in-the-summer.html
This CLUB STATEMENT ON FINANCE Posted on: Wed 19 May 2010 Chelsea Football Club has released a statement today (Wednesday) following media stories on club finance. The statement reads: 'Contrary to media reports today, other than a small residual balance Chelsea Football Club and our parent company Chelsea FC plc are debt free and do not owe any money to our shareholder (Fordstam Ltd). Neither do we owe any money to Roman Abramovich.'
I actually find the whole Frat Frank nickname hilarious. Most of the time the person who uses the term seems to be competing for the title of Britain's biggest beer belly so the irony that comes along with it just really makes you laugh. It's like calling Ron Jeremy a pindick.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-European-failure-740-million-and-rising.html "Figures for Chelsea’s holding company published on Thursday reveal that Abramovich’s total loans to underwrite the football club had reached £739.5 million by the end of the 2009-10 season. The loans are interest fee and repayable on demand within 18 months if Abramovich were to withdraw his support" Keep believing
Awww, I liked it better when you were all blindly insisting you were debt free Still, you do all love the oneupmanship...we lose at home by one goal, you lose at home by two. At this rate it will be 'arry poaching your players come the summer
We won't be getting Modric, quite frankly I don't want him now. He's a world class player at a club currently higher than us in the league. I am more than sure Spurs will get CL football next season and I believe if we threw money at the problem we're having now, Modric would only turn into another Torres, Shevchenko.
He seems a bit less of a diva than the 2 you mentioned..however i think your club would expect him to move mountains after all the build up and that alone would probably crush the little man......hes in a happy place now but he doesnt seem to know it..we are a team that are moving forward..chelsea are a team that have had to stop moving and consolidate...why leave a well oiled machine for one that is rusting?...thats not a dig thats telling you that i dont belive you would get out of him what we manage to get out of him
Ok then, he'll poach all your players on loan provided you pay 70% of their wages Actually I wrote my original post and then edited it after Villa scored. It was fortuitous timing. Good to see it's touched the nerve FulhamBlue What do you reckon the solution is then? More to the point, what do you reckon the problem is? I expected Chelsea to push us pretty strongly this year what with Mata, Meireles, Romeu and Lukaku all being bought - I never expected you'd potentially be contesting fourth spot with Arsenal.
The solution is to let Josh on loan until the summer, bite the bullet and change formation so that Mata is our creative force. We're just going to have to ride this season out and aim for 3rd best and try and make clever signings in Jan and not just throw money.
Chelsea are a happy home for any half decent player, simply for a mega pay check. All this balls about wanting to play in CL competition comes second to how much money goes into their bank accounts!
