INS: Carrol £35m Suarez £22m Henderson £16m Downing £20m Adam £8m Enrique £6m Coates £7m Bellamy FREE Doni FREE

    TOTAL SPENT £114m

    OUTS:Torres £50m Babel £7m Mereiles £15m Ngog £4m Konchesky £1.5m

(this isn’t including undisclosed fees which probably raised an extra £4m+) TOTAL RECEIVED £77m NET SPEND £37m

Now I think you will agree after totally reshaping our squad £37m isn’t alot of money considering such a huge rebuilding job was needed. To show what a good job FSG/Comolli/KK have done:

Suarez v Torres SUAREZ Babel v Carroll CARROLL Enrique v Konchesky ENRIQUE Coates v Kyriakos COATES Bellamy v Ngog BELLAMY Doni v B.Jones DONI Mereiles v Henderson (jury is out on this one. mereiles is the more established of the 2 but i believe Henderson has the potential to be better than him)

Add Charlie Adam and the Downing into the mix and thats 8 positions significantly strengthened for £37m. And trimming the wage bill considerably by getting rid of all the dead wood .

Basically overhauled our squad, and trimmed wage bill for the cost of Aguero.

    Trimmed the wage bill? <laugh>
Signed 9 first team players and sold 5, yet you think you've trimmed the wage bill?

What happened to 'Liverpool fans aren't delusional'?

How do you think Torres' wages compare to Carrolls'. Or Hendersons to Mereiles? Babel was £60000 a week, Konchesky, and Poulsen around £50000 a week.

That's before we mention Harry's golden boy, Joe Cole.

We got rid of a lot more than 5 players PNP.

Players like Aquilani, Poulsen, N'Gog, Jovanovic, Degen, El Zhar, Kyrgiakos, Ayala, Mendy and Mavinga were all let go in the summer. Joe Cole is out on loan as well. Dani Pacheco also went out on loan along with Stephen Darby.

If we go back to January, we also sold Torres who was on a lot of money and Ryan Babel who was on a fair bit as well.

Significant amount off the wage bill.

EDIT: Forgot the sales of Konchesky, Insua, Ince & Meireles.

I think they compare pretty well, actually.
Suarez & Carroll would probably get a similar amount to Torres & Babel.
Downing probably gets more than Mereiles did as he was already on big money at Villa.
Konchesky would get less than Enrique, unless you were totally mental, plus he's signed for Leicester and I can't see him taking a big cut to do that, so you're obviously massively overestimating what he was on.
    Bellamy would far outstrip N'gog.
Adam and Poulsen would be comparable.
Henderson and Coates would probably eat up most of Cole's wage, but you're almost certainly still paying most of it, as he's only on loan to Lille.
Doni was added without a significant departure, so that's all extra.

Overall I'd say that your wage bill has clearly risen.
How you've come to the conclusion that it's taken a significant drop is beyond me, frankly.

The same Joe Cole who was told would need to take a cut in his £80k per week wages to stay at Chelsea, or to join any of Spurs/Arsenal/Man Utd - but got a pay raise to join Liverpool?

It's funny to see Comolli spunking somebody else's money up the wall on average players, really it is...

Like I said in my previous post PNP, two massive wage earners which you didn't mention left Liverpool this summer. Alberto Aquilani left on loan to AC Milan for the season and they will purchase him at the end of the season... On a very high wage as he was the replacement for Xabi Alonso. Probably around £80K.

Milan Jovanovic also moved away in the summer. Because he was a free transfer, our previous owners decided to give him around £90K a week and he did **** all to be honest. That's around £170K a week saved by moving two players along. Add to that other fringe players on lesser wages, it's a significant saving on the wage bill.

You've signed big earners in return though, Chris.
Bellamy was at City on £90k pw and Downing was a massive earner at Villa.
You've got rid of fringe players, but you've also signed some more.

    I can't see a massive saving there.
    Sorry.

  11. 'Pool's new Yanky owner bought the club for a bargain-basement price, and they have tried to ramp up its value by spending huge sums of money on over-hauling the squad in order to regain their top 4 status. The plan has failed, and the owners have discovered that 'Pool was sold to them at a bargain basement price for one simple reason - they are now a bargain basement club. Past glories count for absolutely nothing in the cut-throat world of high finance. 'Pool were top-of-the-middle table club before the new Yanky owner came in and they remain a top-of-the-middle table club today. And neither do I believe that the value of the club has increased, because 'Pool have traded-in some good players for utterly dire ones. It is my belief that Chelsea will make less of a loss on Torres than 'Pool will on Carroll, for example.

I'm not doubting the fact that we've signed players that are going to be on decent money. The important part for me is the outgoings. The players that came in are going to be on decent wages but the players we let go were also on decent money. 19 players left Liverpool in the summer...

At the end of the this summer's transfer window, The Times football reporter, Rory Smith, tweeted this:

I'm not sure it is as high as £30M but I still feel there is a saving that has been made.

I don't have the figures, so it's difficult to comment re wages. However, a lot of money has been spent to no great effect, as far as I can see. Suarez is one of the few decent signings you've made, but he's going to spend more time sitting in the stands, instead of on the pitch, if he doesn't learn to control himself.

  15. See, I don't think Suarez is going to amount to that much. He's far too much of a hothead to become a truly great player. His temperament will always get the better of him, and I don't think Queen Kenny has the ability to control him. If he did, he wouldn't have gone on the pitch wearing that stupid t-shirt in support of the silly little racist, he would have kicked his arse all over Merseyside to let the little tit know that he had better learn to keep his mouth shut, next time.

Sitting 2 points off 4th spot halfway through the season is not a "failure". Considering our dire finishing and poor (unbeaten) home form I don't think we have done a bad job considering the position the club was in last year. I can't see us drawing all of our home games throughout the whole of the season and believe we will only improve during the 2nd half, as the lesser teams get tired towards the end I think we will start converting those (what would have been) draws into wins.

Saying that, I still don't believe we will get top 4. I keep hearing that RVP will get injured and Spurs are yet to hit bad form etc but when people say these things they ignore the fact that it could just as easily happen to them. I think we will be within a shout of 4th spot up until May, but unless we improve our results and are competing with the likes of you (3rd spot) then I will start believing. At this moment it is a big ask considering the top 6.

Keep reading spurs fans going on about Liverpool being so bad when how many points are ye ahead of us, we're dross you're a great team and how many points? 5 is all and we've to play ye again, a game in hand is just that, we gained 2 points on you this week and when you flop we'll be there to take advantage, you lot keep banging on about Liverpool because lose a game and it is 2 points, so how are spurs so great when 1 loss can have them only 2 points ahead of the terrible Liverpool who scored less than Blackburn? hmmmmm? Get readyeat your own faces when the arse falls out of your season

Carroll is such a donkey he made it into and scored for England and two top half prem teams <doh>

5 points with a game in hand, having played 2 less home games, spent £50m+ less than you in the summer and having beaten you 4-0.

Perhaps you should sign Darren Bent as well, he plays for England.

    35m for Carroll <laugh>
