But for a typo I would've made yet more inroads in the WPL Hogg and Hodson were magnificent, Yeates really stepped up once we went a man up, and Kightly had that aura about him that the game was not finishing until he had his goal. I think Eustace is worth another go at Pompey, provided he is left in no doubt that he'll be judged on what he does as the attack-minded midfielder. It's far from ideal, but if he's not going to start with Murray and McGinn is still a few weeks away then I think Dyche needs to do something. I agree with what Sean has said about the previous manager using youngsters for longer than is good for them, yet I feel that is what he is now doing to Prince, who is a potentially decent player in need of further nurturing.
Only just got up the hill with my dongle or whatever they call it and found out the score. Great win Horns.
It's just not Donny's day, is it? Coventry have scored to send them bottom. Hull losing too - not a day to be a promotion chaser.
I would like to submit this comment as quote of the year Only just got up the hill with my dongle or whatever they call it and found out the score. Great win Horns. loving the dedication Frenchie that you have to gain altitude to find out how the lads have done
I think against a better team today we might've lost. It was a very scrappy game...probably the worst this season. Only after the red card did we start to dominate, and even then there were a few dodgy passes. The midfield was missing today.....Hogg was good again but Buaben is completely invisible. He is playing just behind the strikers and doing nothing, making it impossible for us to play the ball on the ground. Would definitely stick Eustace in vs Portsmouth.....at the moment he is simply the better player. Good win, if scores stay the same we're 8 off relegation and 7 off the play offs
Excellent win today, thoroughly enjoyed it. Good goals, although there is still room for improvement. We moved the ball round well at times but there was some sloppy play. A shout out to the American high school marching band who was with us today their playing and joining in me made smile. COYH!
They were poor we were much better than them. Agree with Moose Buaben was missing today. Looked like a soft goal again against us. Nice to see Eustace back - sorry to see Nos/Kightly go. Half time was great - "one Ross Jenkins, theres only one Ross Jenkins....!!!!!!!!!!!""
I think Nosworthy is likely to come back to us, either on loan or permanently. Kightly....might do? I guess Wolves might want to use him.... Donny's goal was fairly soft. Hodson couldn't stay with Diouf and he crossed it in for Sharp to score...went through Loach's hands...though it was very close range.
Very convincing win after a slow start. Guess the key 2 moments were Marvin's well taken 1st and the sending off which quite frankly was coming some way off. Nice way for Kightly to sign off and Eustace must have scored with his 3rd touch? I don't think Loach and co had anything to do apart from pick the ball out of his net. Simple win and great way to end the year. Band were very good after the Pre-match seat confusion was sorted out!
Apparently, we hardly score at the Rookery End. In the 2 games I've seen, we've scored 4 that end - I've been told by H not to go back to Jersey!
The other results look very good for us too, even Cardiff. Obviously the old mantra of 52 points and then see where you are remains true, but in the knowledge that Kightly is going, can we still look beyond that? We're only 4 or 5 points off of the club's official target of being one of the top 30 clubs (depending on whether we're going for top 30 in England or top 30 in the English leagues).
Meh Cardiff isn't that great a result, I'm looking to gain points on the top Still, being clear of relegation is good anyway. Can't see us falling back down again though.
I hear what you're saying MadMoose, but Cardiff aren't going to finish top anyway, and we gained three points on Southampton. For me, the quicker we put the relegation question to bed, the quicker the players can focus on looking upwards, whether individual fans believe we will do it or not. That's my lot. The next Straw From The Nest is written, and will be up either tomorrow or the day after. Happy New Year everyone!
