Hope you don't mind me sharing these thoughts with you as the Old Year draws to a close. To be quite honest, I'm not going to miss 2011, on the personal side it's been pretty much ghastly. I've had to attend four funerals this year of friends and work colleagues, all younger than me - a deeply, deeply sobering experience. My job abruptly ground to a halt in April and I had to reinvent myself in a different role, feeling like a fish out of water at times, but at least I've got a job, for which I'm very thankful. And finally, in November, Mrs.TA and I divorced after ten years of marriage - goodness only knows how she put up with me that long. My fault for seriously neglecting the marriage, so I've got absolutely nothing to whinge about, but a serious blow, nevertheless. But there's also stuff to be grateful for - my parents' Diamond Wedding anniversary in April was lovely and for their great ages, they keep remarkable health. This time last year, my brother-in-law was on life support, but made an astonishing recovery and is enjoying, almost literally, a new lease of life. My Brother has just proposed to his girlfriend and she accepted, brilliant news. Wedding! And of course, there's my beloved Charlton Athletic, finally reversing years of decline and mis-management, playing some astounding football and ending up the year on top of the division - who would have thought it with a brand new team, rookie manager and different board all arriving together? A constant source of joy during this horrible year. So, on we go into the New Year - my best wishes to all Addicks and all our visitors on here for a Peaceful, Prosperous and Points-Filled New Year. Tweakes Sorry to hear about your 2011. I won't hold many happy memories from the year either, but have to say you've had the worst of it. Hope 2012 is a much better year for you and yours. Great news about your brother in law, your brother and your Charlton Bring on 2012.
Wow Tweakes not surprising you want 2011 to end, but there are also some nice positives there too. Mine has been a mixed bag but mainly positive I feel, 2012 should be even better with CAFC winning the league! Also I turned 32 today, ouch! Have a great new years everyone!

I start a new job on Tuesday; I have finally left retail so I can enjoy Saturday lay ins before Charlton for the first time in 5 years and that has already made my 2012
Hope you have a happy new year Tweaks, like you 2011 has not been great it looks like I've got my little mate into 2012 (which over Christmas looked touch and go) but I feel that he has only a very few weeks left. Tewkes, Its funny how you always think that you've had a sh1te year - but there is always someone who has had worse! Whereas i'm not going to pretend that mine has been worse than yours, - i think i've run you fairly close ! The only thing is that i've had sh1te years for about the last 7 ! - so i always look on the positive and think to myself that at some time it will all turn around ! Just gotta keep being positive. Just taken my kids back to Heathrow after spending xmas with them - and wont see them again for at least 3 months - so, allied with an abject CAFC display tonight, i'm not in the greatest mood- but lets hope that Charlton can at least help us all have a much better 2012 - and i wish all on this forum - even the clown Nigel - a great 2012. Lifes too short !

Now that 2012 is here I hope things take an upturn for you Tewkes. And AHLL- I've had a couple of dogs so all I can say is Good Luck. 2011 was a good year for me, mainly due to my daughter's recovery from serious illness, other positives were my bluegrass band kicking off, and Richard Murray giving up the reins. All the best for 2012 to all Charlton fans, and indeed to all proper fans who support their local club rather than one of the big money clubs.

Sorry you had a crap 2011 Tewks, hopefully 2012 will be much better for you. I also had a bad 2011 and also a rough last threee months of 2010, so glad to see back of both years. Happy New Year to you all, yes even you Nigel.
