Makes sense really, they needed someone to cover the losses of players to the ACON. I'm not sure he'll be the cheap option once the insurance is factored in, I seem to remember 'Arry said our loan bid for Beckham last season ended up falling apart because we'd be paying in the millions for a player that we'd only get for 6 weeks or so.

He might still be able to offer something, Larsson surprised me with how well he did for United a few years back but the signing's not exactly scaring me, put it that way.

It's a fairly sensible move, as an injury to van Persie during the African Nations would totally screw them otherwise, but I can't see City suddenly quaking in their boots, somehow.
I wonder if Song's replacement is up to the job?

You're right, YV.
I had the idea that he was from the Ivory Coast, for some reason.

Just Chamakh and Gervinho then, I guess.
Frimpong, possibly.

Which would you rate worse...

1. Cheating in a game of football, or;
2. Cheating the tax man and stealing money that would otherwise be spent on a country's education system, health system etc?

Let's not throw stones from inside glass houses, eh?

8. There. I've corrected that for you, and made it less likely that you will put the owner of this site in breach of libel laws.

No apologies necessary, as I suspect that you lack the balls to man-up to your obvious errors <ok>

Which would you rate worse...As this is a football forum I would suggest that most would rate Cheating in a game of football as worse, particularly as this was proved beyond reasonable doubt, whereas the other things referred to are currently only accusations and have not been proved.

The lack of motivation is a very interesting point. When Wenger's sides are winning, this seems to build on itself. However after setbacks (as has been been proved time and again over the last 5 or 6 years) the confidence rapidly evapourates. Arsenal lose games they should win and a lack of confidence takes over. Instead of looking at the root of the problem (his performance and that of his team,) he will generally try and throw the focus away from this.

This gradual decline in performance has been a feature of Arsenal's seasons for some time now and that was when players like Benayoun and Arteta would have got nowhere near an Arsenal shirt, save for swapping into one at the end of game or buying one.

Henry was never a leader of men when he was there last time. Do you really think he can make difference like a Viera would to the dressing room? Even leading by example seems unlikely he must have lost at least a yard of pace.

I fear for you. What I would really like is for us to be trading blows toe to toe. But this signing smacks of desperation.

Glen Johnson - bought for £4m, sold for £17m.
Lassana Diarra - bought for £5.5m, sold for £20m.
Sulley Muntari - bought for £7.1m, sold for £12.7m.

Just a few examples, but I'd love to know where Redknapp supposedly lost money for the club.
FA Cup win, European football, top half Premier League finish...

If you look into it, I think that you'll find that it was the fault of the many owners that they had at the time, though Gaydamak seems the most responsible, plus a certain Peter Storrie.

Well you're getting fired up by the return of Henry, so it's easy to believe that you're a little out of touch with reality! <laugh>

Aren't Arsenal fans becoming more and more like Scousers?
How is it in the past?

More chance of us seeing a repeat of this, I think.

That's the goal that I like to call the Hypocrite Highlighter.
Does that celebration look familiar to you, SNIAW?

The difference?
Our fans didn't hurt any stewards or throw bananas at Henry.
The ref didn't book Henry and he wasn't charged by the FA, either.
Funny that.

What's the difference between Adebayor's celebration and that of Henry, SNIAW?
Both run the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the other team's fans in the away end and they both do the same slide.
