With the injuries to Turner, Bramble, Bardsley and (maybe) Richardson I would be shocked if we don't move for a defender in the January transfer window.

After the departures of Ferdinand in the summer along with the loan signings of Nedum Onuoha and John Mensah we have gone from a squad with lots of defensive options to a wafer thin group over the last couple of season's.

    The question is who though?

Nedum Onuoha? - Looking for a move
Sebastian Bassong? - Wants out of Spurs
Carlos Cuellar? - Ex MoN signing, would be available on the cheap
Alex? - transfer listed but maybe a tad expensive for us but would show ambition
Chris Samba? - Looks like he wants out

    anyothers??

    Nedum Onuoha

A name that surprises me every time I see it. Thought he did a good job for us, top defender and lots of rumourover the months but still no takers. I know his mum was ill but there must be more than that behind his lack of a move.

Ned please, knows most of the players, reliable, athletic enough to play pretty much anywhere along the backline, hes been shut out all season at Man City and with youth on his side is only going to get better. On the investment side of it aswel its basically a no brainer as his sell on price in a few years having played regularly would more then likely increase.

I think Ned could be a quality player in the future if he stays at city he will not develop and end up playing championship football

Nedum would be good for me. The talk is of 2m to 3m which isn't too rich either. Him and Samba would be canny handy mind.

I think samba is a top 4 defender and can't for the life of me understand why he isn't already in the Chelsea, Utd, City or especially the Arsenal back 4.

Nedum (surplus at City), Samba (out of contract in the summer) and Agbonlahor (Mon's find from Villa). 20m the lot and a top 8 finish?

If 2-3m is accurate then that would be a steal. I personally dont think Samba is quite at the top 4level (just slightly below for me) however I do agree that when you look at Arsenals back line he'd be a massive improvement on what the have. Squillaci, Djourou, Mertesacker are all not top 4 defenders and id be surprised if Arsenal especially now Cahill has gone/going to Chelsea that they dont try and pick Samba up on the cheap. Reliable personified and adds phenominal free kick defense (the ball is just attracted to him) and goals from set pieces offence.

2 to 3m each for Samba and Nedum isn't out of the ball park and a 14 to 15m bid for Agbonlahor, with add ons maybe (see if they bite, after all we did with Bent).

    He who dares wins Rodney.

Don't think Agbonlahor is worth anything near 14-15m 2bh, 8m would be a good price for the lad but were would he play? He has played as a left striker this season

English players always cost more than true value mate. Look at Carroll and Henderson. I think if Jordan Henderson was a 20m signing, Agbonlahor is going to be at least 14m, if not more, if he indeed was allowed to go in the first place.

Bassong is the best in that list imo. I wouldn't have the traitor back though after us giving him his chance and him buggering off at the first opportunity.

    Probably available for around £6m?
