http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/stevie-bring-on-city Steven Gerrard insists Liverpool will have no fear of facing Manchester City in the first game of the New Year after the skipper helped the Reds return to winning ways by netting the final goal of 2011 in the 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Friday night. Kenny Dalglish's side moved up to fifth place in the Barclays Premier League, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea, and our No.8 believes the Reds will approach the clash at the Etihad Stadium with confidence. Tuesday's meeting will be the first of three against City in January with the two-legged Carling Cup semi-final also looming. "Bring it on," said Gerrard. "They are a fantastic team who have started the season really well but we've got nothing to fear. "We showed against them here a couple of weeks ago that we more than matched them. "These are exciting games, we don't fear these and these are the games as a player you want to play in. I can't wait." Liverpool's form away from Anfield has been excellent so far this season including wins against the likes of Chelsea (twice), Arsenal and Everton.
I think we'll beat City. We thrive against good opposition and confidence will be high after yesterday. With Gerrard added to the equation we have a good shout in my opinion. Probably get smashed now I've said that!!
Quietly confident we can get something out of it. Fair play to Stevie, he just oozes confidence and is great for the stature of the club.
I think we will get smashed...purely because the moment I say I think we can win ****s our chances immediately.
Will Suarez be back? I'm guessing so as we haven't received the written report from the FA yet have we (what a joke)...Hope so because I'd like to see him link up with Stevie G soon
Suarez will defo play, his ban wont start until 14 days after we receive paperwork from FA, whcih is predicted to be mid Jan,and if we do appeal as expected, that will knock it back further still
Only reason we got a draw this season against them was Lucas, if Jay doesn't play a similar game than what Lucas did we will lose.
Think City were the last team to ACTUALLY score against us with 11 men, recently OG is on form and doing the deeds for opposition teams. Hope we can continue to score...just an update for those who have lost count. Liverpool have hit the woodwork most often (18) and had their own posts struck the joint-fewest times (1).
He will have to play ten times that performance against City, they'll want to kill the game off so they can rest there best in the second leg.
City have been unbelievable at home this season in the League but that record has to come to an end at some point so why not. With Gerrard & Suarez back we have a good chance. Shame Lucas is out but if Spearing came have a decent game against Silva (easier said than done) we have a chance.
