Glad they got shafted. Breaking the rules is one thing but the refusal to admit obvious wrongdoing and despicable way they keep trying to avoid punishment is unbelievable. The club is a blight on professional football.

    Glad Basel didn't get punished.

Remind us which European competition your team is in?

Would it mean that you get reinstated then or are there other teams that may get the place?

It's a logistical nightmare. Do you give Bayern a bye? If United take Basel's place then do we face Bayern? Do Ajax then get a bye? Does Galati face Ajax in the Europa league?

If there is to be a ban, I think it should be from next season.

The punishment handed out to Sion reduces the likelihood that any action will be taken against Basel.

I think the UEFA rules stated we would go back in the CL and Galuti would go into the EL. In other words, they would effectively remove Basel and all their results from the group, hence Benfica 1st, Utd 2nd, Galuti 3rd. Tho' I think the situation would have been different if any of the knock out phase had already been played.

I can't see any rationale for giving the place to anyone else. It would either have to be Utd reinstated or Bayern getting a bye, with UEFA's preference obviously being for Utd to play the match so they still get all the TV and sponsorship money.

Either way, now the Swiss FA have caved to FIFA, the only way Sion can challenge it is through the courts. And if the courts say Sion are in the right then I think UEFA would have to let Basel stay in the comp anyway.
