It is nearly upon us, so what positions do you think will need strengthening if any? For me personally the bare minimum for improvement is: Out: Adam In: No one Any addition is a bonus really. Cover for Lucas? a goal scorer up top? Your thoughts? Edit: I don't really want Adam out.
Bit harsh on Adam there We should surely keep him, if only if it's for squad depth. I say a new striker is key. I'm not concerned about cover for Lucas as Spearing is capable plus we have Gerrard who can fit in there fine if needed. For an extra Christmas/new year bonus I'd like a proper winger on the right - but can't see that one happening.
Adam out? No way mate. He's had a few bad games, but he's had a few good too. He's got a little complacent but is good back and great value for 7 mill. Exact the squad player we have needed over the last 5 or so years. Oh Zingy don't be hasty!
I agree with the others we need one more striker for competition. With one more we will have plenty of options going forward and on the left: Bellamy (what a class signing), Suarez, Carroll and one other. Kuyt cover for the right, depsite being better up front. I don't think we've utilised him well this year in our bid to get Downing kicking.
I know, it was a bit of an indirect insult on his recent performances. I don't usually get the whole wakka style 'we need to get rid' argument, more to do with how we played when Adam was taken off and his very poor set pieces. I think a new Striker is the only feasible option Kenny has, we aren't scoring enough goals and Saurez is out.
Yesterday showed us what we're missing; quality delivery into the box from out wide. Previous games have highlighted our poor finishing, often only burying one chance in 20. So it's one or both of the above please - but only if they are quality. We have a strong squad now, we just need to add real quality.

Yep,maybe a wide player on the right with pace and another striker with Suarez ridiculous ban pending. Kenny and Comolli may be looking at a loan option in that regard. Other than that were fine!
Yesterday on 5 live Jan Molby mentioned Darren Bent's name.Interesting!! Always had goals in him wherever he's played and good pace to,lots of premiership experience. Would cost around the £20m mark but i think this could be a good move.
Defoe would be my prefered option for a forward for anything around £8mil. Adam has played well, think he's tailed off a bit recently without Lucas because he's had to sit back a bit more rather than having the freedom he did have. Plus I think he's played every game (bar suspension) so might just need a rest. At a push, maybe a versatile defender who can cover CB/LB as we only really have Enrique however wouldn't be a number 1 target. Just watching the Blackburn game and their left back (Henley?) looks half decent for a 17 year old.
If we bought Defoe it would be good in two ways...Spurs lose their joint top scorer and we gain a proven PL striker.
