Hello. QPR fan here. In peace, naturally. A little New Year's Eve offering re: the tabloids' need to invent spurious details when reporting the birth of skipper's nipper this week; and a little musing on our last New Year's Eve match away at Arsenal. I'll be among the home fans so look forward with the faint hope of having to keep quiet as the Rangers repeat the feat of 1994:

Oh, I don't think we ever planned on getting any points at all from the top few teams. The three points vs. Chelsea was a real bonus. May well drop a place today, I suppose, but I doubt I'll find it depressing. Having a decent go at superior opposition will do just fine, whatever the result. We just hope that the probable new signings in Jan. will be enough to secure a 17th place finish or better. My hunch is that at the end of the season there will be three teams worse off than the Rangers. But of course relegation is a real possibility. Following QPR is never easy so we enjoy what highs we have whenever they come. It's character building, I think.

This is what many of the Sky 4 forget (although Liverpool will have to try) that the highs are so much better when you have lived through the lows. Spurs have been mediocre for years, so our current form is beyond exciting. If Arsenal were playing so well it would just seem like normal. As for following Chelsea or Man City who buy their way into perpetual success, I can't see the pleasure. It's either normal or disappointing.

There is every chance that 3 others will drop rather than QPR.
