Comment from a Stoke supporter to The Daily Fail

"Which begs the question "Who signed these players who barely kicked a ball for Stoke" and at some cost circa £8million? Waste of money which shows our sojourns into the transfer market are poor at best or downright incompetent. Another £8million wasted on Kenwyne Jones who is the laziest footballer on the planet."

And to think they were ridiculing us for suggesting such a thing when they signed him!

Didnt Southampton fans say the same to us and we told them to get lost on 606.

No doubting that if he gave 100% every game he would be so much better than he is atm (and with us) but if its a choice between Heskey or Jones in Jan, there is only 1 winner, and he is not English.

Kenwyne gets far to much stick IMO

we all know when he is up for it and on his day he is top, top class but even still he is always a threat with his ability in the air and was great at defending set pieces.

If there was a chance of a return I would however say no

We do need a big man but a big man who can get goals and Pavyluchenko would be ideal

Jones is a complete waste of space. Why so many Sunderland fans continually hanker after him is beyond me.

We havent missed his bone idle temperament, or his couldn't be arsed attitude in any shape or form and we never want to see him back. He is the only player we have sold that I have never regretted, or had any fears that he would ever come back to haunt us.

What we need are far better players to make us a far better team. Wickham is already 10 times the player Jones will ever be anyway.

Can we please stop this KJ obsession andtalking about him now and concentrate on signings we may bring in that will benefit us all.

Would have to agree with Cest re KJ and the new signings.

I think the paper talk of James Collins and Petrov may not be too wide of the mark however I reckon you would have to get up pretty early in the morning to second guess MON.

Main thing I personally liked about Kenwyne was he seemed happy here and content playing for us.

    Not like Bent or Gyan.

If we could get him cheaply I would have him back as he offers something different and defends amazingly well. Games where we are a goal down an under the cosh a bit, take off a defender and put Kenwyn on instead of having defenders pushing on to try and get a goal, have Kenwyn defending, when needs be, and up front when we have a free kick or whatever. Maybe time has been kind to my memories of him though. . .

I'm a big Kenny fan and I wonder how many of Bents goals came about by Jones making space for him.

I agree with this ^ completely. I also can remember when Kenny and Bent were our 2 frontmen and they were an awesome pairing. Defenders would not commit to an attack with those 2 hovering about and as a consequence, it took a lot of the sting out of opposition attacks.

I don't give a **** about the dissenting voices and I don't buy into the Lazy Jones bit either. Also, I'd have him back in a heartbeat -especially, if it's a choice between him or Heskey for instance or a whole host of other wannabe's and has-beens we've bee linked to.

We all know what supa-Kenwynne-Jones can do and we've been told time and again how Martin O'Neil has a penchant for motivating and bringing out the best in his players - well this fella has the potential to be the new Drogba.

Give me Kenwyn over bendtner any day now theres a totally useless
lazy waste of a pair of football boots although he would be good if he
were as good on the pitch as he is in his own head bet barcelona
cant wait for the transfer window to open

I may be wrong (very unlikely though I know) but I think the young lad Bent seemed to do just fine here without him, as he did at Ipswich, Spurs and has done at Villa.

Jones is a very, very average football player. We need better than him, Bendtner, Heskey and Zamora.

Totally disagree. Bentdner has a far better touch and is a far better footballer. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched Kenny drag a shot towards the corner flag, the fella is rightfully in our past.

I don't think Bendtner is a world beater but he certainly is a decent EPL footballer. His close control, first touch and awareness is very good imo, his problem is he is shot shy. It's all about confidence and Mon will correct this.

Spending 18 months in and out of Arsenals squad has led him to be a little rusty but I don't question the lads pedigree at all. Just look at his international record to see he is pinnacle to them.

Give Bendtner time and you will see the real deal after the turn of the year.

Or tonight if you prefer? Lol

If we're comparing with Bendter, Jones is no more "lazy" and offers more in a defensive and aerial capacity although Bendter definitely has better control and touch. Sure I remember a thread on here a few weeks back when everyone was slating him after the Norwich game and it seemed a bit deja vu with comments about Jones. The difference is Jones would have kept their physical forwards quiet at set pieces imo. He also doesn't have the huge ego notwithstanding going on strike to get a move from Southampton. No car smashing and the like iirc!
