Remote - you're right matey. The only problem is the bloody interest repayments we're committed to! <grr>

There is no such thing - even Man Utd, Barcelona, Real Madrid sell big name players, maybe not often but they do it all the same. So if you want to kid yourself Cardiff are not a selling club then good luck to you. All players can be sold under the right set of circumstances.

" I'd like to see the Malaysians clear the mortgage & pay them off to be honest , but why should they " ... To give the rank & file of Cardiff a little bit of peace from financial clouds over everyone for a few seasons now , would be a fair reason if the Malaysians really want to be beloved by the rank & file . I do think the Malaysians are a better bunch than I thought at first though . Good luck with the trees !

It's always a double edged sword Sparky. As you say, it would be nice to pay off the capital and reduce the interest payments. However, if it's all factored in to the opex in the P&L it's not such a big deal. A drain, yes, but not something that stops us progressing or forces us to sell a player a season to keep our head above water, as has been the case in the past.

I'm sure the Malaysians will be focussed on clearing the most expensive debts first, but at least we can sell players when we want to rather than because we have to. It all seems a lot more manageable than in the last few years.

Yeah, sorry Thai, wasn't specific enough. In my last response to Sparky, I said, we'll sell when we want to not because we have to. You are right that every club is a selling club, but now it is on our terms. You won't get a BOGOF deal like Gabidon and Collins, or under £5M for a Ramsey, just because someone will put all the cash up front.

Much better <ok> I agree you don't have to sell to balance the books at this point in time. Your original statement just reminded me of the Leeds fans, they like to state that line but look at some of the players they sold when they were in the PL!

I'm thinking positive, but not being deluded Thai.

If someone came in with a silly offer, Whitts would be gone. Given MM has built his team around him (largely), it's one of the few players that would take some prising away. If we had better cover in that position, it may be a more realistic proposition for someone like WH.

Whenever we reject a bid for a player, it further underlines the intent of our owners. Two seasons ago, a £3M offer would have been tabled, and the first we would have known about it would have been him holding the shirt of his new club in a photo.

Sparky, what's the deal with Ransom, does all proceeds of a player sale go to him or just a percentage?

In my usual sentimental way, I just hope that Whitts and Cardiff City can find mutual success together. He, like Kev, are the new old school and I'd love to see their loyalty rewarded.

I think the fee we got for Chopra probably got used to pay what we owed Sunderland. Most transfers are paid in installments so I reckon Sunderland were just paid off.

However the money is being used, it appears to be balancing the books. No word of a call from HMRC, Langston very quiet.

What will our neighbours down the M4 have to visit our board and crow over now? I'm sure they can make something up.

Lets start a rumour that we are £174M in debt and Vincent Tan wants his money back or he's going to move our ground to Kota Kinabalu and use it as a cattle market and we'll be forced to groundshare with Llandaff North RFC!

We owed money to Sunderland? I thought they owed us money? We sold Chops for 5 million and got him back for 4 million? How did we owe them money?

not quite that straight forward Sheep... I think at the time Chops went to Ipswich we still owed Sunderland around £1.5m

we don't have to start paying it back until the attendances reach 25,000.... it says so in the small (virtually invisible) print :D

Thai - as far as I know, the PFF mortgage is guaranteed by any player transfer fees received. I believe I read somewhere that how much of that PFF took back was at their discretion - in other words we must presume they retained the right to call upon it in full.

H, did we use the same solicitor as the Swans to write that clause into the micro print? ;) At least we picked a number that we might actually acheive. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Musty, make it £6M and you've got a deal.

You may find you get the same response from Whitts as you got from Jay though!

£6m - Is this a 'guess' for a figure or something that has been mentioned by the club? Also, without blue tinted glasses and bare in mind no Championship players sells for lots and lots of money (Connor Wickham was vastly over-priced and over-rated), how much do you really think the club would accept?

I don't think the Malaysians would be willing to lose face by selling him, ffs he's worth 10mil to a premier side just to come on for free kicks, certainly wouldn't sell to a promotion competitor esp one with the ugliest manager in the world lol. obviously there's a price where any player would get sold but the reality for us is that unlike previously we don't NEED to sell.
