I find it hard to believe we aren't monitoring the situation with Sharp. Unless there was some sort of bad feeling between the two parties when we spoke to him back in August?
We don't know that Cortese isn't. The club doesn't make statements until every thing is cut and dried.
I don't care who we get if he has speed, is a good team player, can score regularly, and can work with our talisman Sir Rickie De So'ton.
My reading of the Sharp situation is that we had a substantial bid accepted by Doncaster, but the move broke down. At the time Adkins stated it was for personal reasons and would not discuss the matter. Naturally rumour and speculation followed this. It has tragically been revealed in an interview with the player that the sad loss of his son was diagnosed during the early stages of pregnancy so Billy would have been all too aware that it would be important for him to be close to his family in what was going to be a difficult time. If Billy still feels that moving South is not right for him then any bid we make would be fruitless.
If we went for Lukas and he was the only striker signed I would be massively dissapointed as after looking around a Coventry forum they came up with this description of him: "He's still pretty young and he's improved vastly since he joined and he'll be a half decent premier league striker in the future for me. He's basically the entirety of our attack this season and without him we're so screwed. He's the perfect partner for a goalscoring or technically gifted striker and his partnership with Marlon King at the back end of last season was brilliant. He's not the most composed finisher but he's got a good shot on him and he's good at being in the right position (he missed a load of sitters when he was struggling for form in the 1st half of last season, but he was getting those sitters regularly). He's very good at holding the ball up, winning flick on's, attacking balls into the box etc etc but he's more than just a out and out targetman like Steve Howard or Clive Platt. I suppose I'd describe him very much as an all-round striker. So yeah I think he'd be a good signing for you to partner someone like Emnes up front." That was a response to a Boro fan who asked about him and all the other Cov fans were in agreement of this description. Does that type of player remind you of someone who already wears the Saints shirt?
This bit imo sounds almost exactly as how I'd describe Lambert He's very good at holding the ball up, winning flick on's, attacking balls into the box etc etc but he's more than just a out and out targetman like Steve Howard or Clive Platt. I suppose I'd describe him very much as an all-round striker. And as has been said countless times we need someone to play with Lambert. Fine if we sign him as a backup to Rickie, but I don't think we will spend 2 mil on a backup, but if we only get one striker then I wouldn't want Jutkiewicz
But we still need back up i'd buy Adomah drop Lallana for a few games. Then it's all out war for the starting position. Which would inturn would make the players try harder ,as there would be competition insted of having none at all.
Why would he be joking? There is no pressure on Lallana to perform really is there. Plus it looks like he was knackered after 60 minutes today.
I thought this as well. Wasn't impressed tonight for this reason - no point getting behind the fullback if all you're gonna do with it is pass it behind our strikers, might as well whip it in early.
