Just a bit frustrating that the game could've been so different if Skertl hadn't made that outrageous clearance. Ba yet again was a positive. Zero service but was still unlucky to score from a quality finish.
Looked nasty to me - an ankle stamp when he could of easily pulled out. I don't care anyway I'm all for the ruff and tumble game that it once was
Cabaye's tackle was terrible and a definite red card for me. Won't complain if he gets a video ban either because on the basis of history it is on a par with past incidents. Would question the suggestion that it was deliberate though. Seen the replay several times and he seems to be looking only at the ball. I don't like making that sort of claim unless it is pretty cut and dried. btw - liked the Scottish slave vids on GC ... very interesting!
I agree - I wasn't serious about him trying to break his leg. It was a terrible tackle though and a definite straight red if the ref sees it. Cheers - the documentary is very interesting, I used to live over there so even more so for me
Surely he'd only get a video ban if it was deemed to be done on purpose? Or am I not getting the rules right here? It was bad, but there's no way that was done on purpose and it certainly wasn't a 'stamp', he jumped to try stay up and was always aiming two footed for the floor infront of him where Spearing unfortunately slid his leg. I can see how a ref may have given it a red but I thought that a video ban was only for clearly purposeful hacking or punching/slapping/elbowing etc.?
You could be right fella. I thought it could be used for any violent tackle/incident that wasn't dealt with by the ref. I got distracted in the after math by stuff at home and didn't see him get booked. I'm assuming he didn't because I couldn't see how the ref could give any card but red. Don't get me wrong I hope nothing happens. Was just saying I don't think there is any room for appeal if it comes to that.
Yeah interesting stuff will read up more on that. Never knew there was such an interesting history to the Scots/Irish population there! So cheers for that. I appreciated it even if the regulars didn't
I think you can only be punished after the game if it is something the ref did not see/deal with during the game so he will be ok. To be fair it was a red card on the way the game is ruled now days but so are most challenge’s, I was looking back at the highlights from the 4.3 in 96 and a few of the great tackles going in....And thought to myself they would be booked or off today for those tackles
Yeah well done again by the way, good luck for the season - I'd be happy to see something unexpected in the top 4 if you guys can make it . Hoping we can find our wins/draws stability again soon though, I'd love a top 7 finish for us.
Nice one skapel I just thought today we were very good and you were below your usual standard. I see a straight fight between you and Stoke for 7th, so at worst 8th. Good luck anyway and see you at the SDA/SJP
Take top 8 right now, just know Ashley isn't going to invest as he will see this as a good season and anyone can see today this team needs improving if we are to ever progress further than were we are now. There are at least 3-4 players who are out of the depth.
I ****ing love Stevie. There are those amongst us (Liverpool fans) who openly admit to hating him. Just digest that for a second. Spearing, Skrtel, Bellamy and Stevie absolutely immense. Our defence is still solid as a rock and as good as Stevie was and as good as it is to have him back; I think we would've won this game (maybe not as comfortably) even without him. I'm looking forward to seeing Gerrard and Suarez together. I think Adam's days as a starter may be numbered.
