Yeah, that's the thing with Obertan though - he tries but usually fails. This first half, every time we've strung some good attacking passes together it's been completely in orbit of Cabaye who is just playing off a load of one twos. Totally agree with your ideas for subs, HBA for Vuckic who looks a lost today unfortunately, and Santon on for Raylor who is making Downing look like a good player.
Is Ryan Taylor struggling with an injury? Regardless of if he is or not he needs to be subbed off for Santon. He's been a liability and Jonas got booked because of him. All round it has been a terrible first half by us. Collo, Tiote and Dreamboat are doing OK but the rest are doing poorly. Don't deserve to be level imo.
The four players on our flanks would struggle to pass wind let alone a football. They have been pathetically bad and are dragging us down - every time we pass it out there it gets given away. We have been embarrassing today IMO, minor miracle that we're level.
There's no one there when he's moving forward, he gets isolated which ends up in lost possession and will get criticised for it by most of us. If he's having a mare I'd be writing differently, but as it stands it's not down to him. His best move was when he went into the centre and forced people into play.

I'll agree his final product hasn't been great, but sometimes what he's given us first half is as much as you need from a player. I think there's others to be looked at. I happen to think Henderson has great potential but he doesn't work very well alongside Adam as Adam can't play the give and go that Henderson likes, and Henderson gets on the ball when Adam wants creative control. Henderson needs to get further forward (where Gerrard played behind Torres) so that he can link with Carroll. There's a good article by AnfieldIndex looking at our recent scoring problems, and it partly shows that Downing's chance creation is still actually quite good and on a par with what he was doing at Villa, it is actually a problem with the finishing for the most part. That's not dismissing that his, and the whole team's, end product should be better.
I don't particularly think Obertan is having a terrible game, but his first three passes were abysmal; and for all three he had time, space and plenty of choice. I agree though, Obertan is the new scapegoat for many of us here whenever a move ends badly.
