I was going to write a thread about things I didn't miss about old606, but the list was getting pretty long, so thought it might be nice to reflect about what we miss about Old606.

For me, I love our new home, it's great that it's properly modded (hats off to Dave and also to Thai who did a great job), the added features it have made it a much better place to be. It's great to have some freedom!

With regards to what I miss about old606, well it's tough, I do kind of miss the seige mentality, the sense of it's Us vs The Mods, we had a few good laughs at their expense.

I miss the phantom 1 Star Rater, that always used to give me an ironic smile.

I miss the fans of other teams who we've lost to the other sites like 12yards. I also miss some of the old binners and the muckers we've lost too, great to see munky back again though.

That's about it really, in almost every way Not606 is a better place, and I love it here.

    OTBC!

PS: Match Center will be up tomorrow, had a busy day today!

What I miss most is getting an email from the 'Hitlers' saying my post had been removed, then frantically searching all the current threads to find out which one had been removed! Then, having found the thread, pondering long and hard trying to work out what I had said that could be deemed offensive! <doh>

How much better ‘old 606’ would have been with proper modding! Definitely not something I miss about our old home, and the thing I’m most grateful for here. Again, cheers Dave!

What I really miss about the old one is that sense of everyone being in the same place. Being able to pop over to another teams board and there being (generally speaking) at least a few posters, right throughout the divisions, was great. If we were linked with a player, or had someone out on loan, we could almost certainly get a good few views from that teams supporters about that player. It’s a bit harder here. Hopefully, in time, the reputation of this site will grow and more will come.

Are we missing many from our ‘old 606’ group? I know Ratty isn’t here, and Carrubuh hasn’t been around. Any others?

Looking forward to the match thread, PC. Just steer clear of the ‘oh so obvious’ sexual euphemisms this time!

Hi CS, or should I say PC ? ;) Pretty much agree with most of what you've said. At first all the pics, avatars etc. did my head in and I was hoping everyone would migrate to 12yards. However, I have to admit that 'not' is now definitely the place to be. I still have the old 606 site in my favourites, somehow I can't bring myself to delete it. If I click on it now the 'header' to the page is all that remains !

The main problem is that the old 606 was on its own and every club had loads of contributors. Whilst our board is well supported most others aren't. Go back to the fun and games we had with the Colchester fans and look at their board now - not even Monarch or Mike. I used to have many discussions with Coventry fans as I have a connection with that club - again look at their board on not606. It's the same with the majority of clubs outside the Premier League and even some Premier Clubs have only a few threads. I have looked at the other sites that sprung up alongside not606 when the BBC shut 606 down and they seem to get less response than not606 and I don't even bother to look at them anymore. It seems that a lot of people lost interest when 606 shut down and have now disappeared for good including a few regular contributors for our club who seem to have disappeared without trace.

I miss the ease with which you could go back to old posts and enjoy classics like this:

Let's be serious about this for a moment. They have a very good manager and they're not going to be that far off the pace this season and may well make the play-offs.

The problem is going to come in the long-term. With their usual short-sightedness the Norwich board have appointed someone whose family is at the other end of the country and will be off when an offer from a bigger club in the North or Scotland comes in.

In contrast, Keano loves the area, has set up home in Suffolk and is building with not just this season but three or four years down the line in mind. Yes he may well move on to someone like United one day, but I think he wants to emulate Sir Bobby and Sir Alf at this club first and there's no doubt he appreciates the history of the club and wants to be a big part of it.

I could be wrong, but I think that's where Norwich will (as they always do) come unstuck. Norwich just seem to be 'another club' to Lambert. I don't think with their current board they will ever establish themselves as a Premier League outfit again."

If you read this Hampy, sorry, but I couldn't resist!

Cheers PC, it's good to be back <ok>

The main thing I miss about the old606 is popping over to the wrestling section and having some banter with that lot - some proper fruitloops there were on there I can tell you!!

The Racing section as well. A third of the posts were useless tips, another third were people trying to convince us that despite the betting involved the sport wasn't crooked and the other third were from people telling us not to back the favourite in the 3.30 at Sandown as he had been told by a friend of a friend of his grandfathers butcher that the Jockey was under orders to fall off.

I've still got my old606 account bookmarked and I'd absiolutely love to have the time to trawl through all the old articles as I bet there are some absolute crackers floating around in cyber-space - probably none better than that one Exile, absolutely brilliant mate, priceless!!

Never got involved in the racing one PC, occasionally popped over to the weight-lifting and archery ones for the odd wind-up though <laugh>

Not so much what I missed, PC, more who, some of the old characters like Weaver, Bank, and particularly wallybrain, with his Canary adaptations of old Beatles songs, which actually got me hooked on verse in the first place. Of course that´s not saying that they´re not already here in some sort of disguise, but they´re certainly not visibly recognisable, but then neither was Munky until he revealed himself (in the nicest possible away of course).

As to what I miss, not a lot really, mostly irritating stuff like not being able to recall old players such as Terry Allcock for fear of the whole thread disappearing. Thank goodness we never had Alan Ball playing for us. <laugh>

Can I just make clear, in my defence, I genuinely did just stumble across that one. As Munky said, there are stacks of them. Can't better Hampy's, but here's a couple more:

Wow, the div 3 champions are going to take this division by storm Plese can you explain to me how this will happen when you'll be in the bottom 3 for most of the season?

Your keeper did well in Scotland but looks vunerable at times.

Your back four is a shambles.

Your midfield is a little weak and lacking in
    quality.

Up front you've a div 3 pie eating champion and a couple of kids untested at this level.

Good manager but he'll be off as soon as Lennon screws up.

It's a good job that the above doesn't matter and you'll be promoted purely on the fact that you get good crowds and have a cathedral.

    Go Budgies!!!!!"

Hoolawho? Congrats for winning an average League 1 but that doesn't make you promotion certs this year. I need to remind you because you haven't been at this level for a while that the Championship is the hardest league to get out of. You may have a reasonable midfield but I cant see fatboy Holt getting many in this league."

Again, if the Town lads see these, it's just a bit of fun chaps. I'm sure if you bothered to look (that is if, like me, you had nothing better to do) you'd find some corkers from us too.

I get the feeling you should start a new thread just for these comments, Exile.
