The Times have reported today that we are discussing offering Porto £82m !!!!!! for this bloke! For this sort of money, he's got to be Greavsie, Pele, Ozzie and Bestie all rolled into one! Am I dreaming or what?
£82 million is the sum specified in his contract that would trigger an automatic sale, regardless of Porto's wishes otherwise. Although, if they got £82 million for him, I can't really see them complaining. It's a ridiculous sum of money, no matter how good the player. What I'll never understand about the Russian is why he doesn't employ a Whinger-like figure to go and spot and buy up all the young talent around the world. £82 million would grab you a shed load of the next Fabregases and Nasris. It's your club's owner's impulsive and obsessive thirst for instant glory that led to him blindly shelling out £50 million on Torres, when everyone else could see that Torres was no longer the player he once was. Is there really no one at Chelsea who have the bottle to shout out, "why has the Emperor got no clothes on?" Perhaps that's what Ray Wilkins did?
Torres was never worth 50mil anyway. That was just a desperation buy lets face it. Anyway, I have always liked him, so I dont really care about the money. In all fairness this season he has played well but luck hasn't looked favourably on him. Back on topic Hulk is an absolute beast, but we all know about Porto and their inflated buy out clauses. :/
I do confess to wishing players like him in the EPL, even if it means him playing for a rival team. I felt the same when Ronaldo was at United. I felt relief and disappointment in equal measure when he left. Loathe or love 'em, players like that do light up the EPL and make it that bit more exciting, come match days.
