On his performance to date, I doubt many will be too interested in Adel - and certainly not at the kind of price we'd need to provide funds for midfield replacements next summer. This plus the fact that Tottenham's 40% share cannot be overlooked.

As ever, Taarabt's best chance of etching out the career he always expected is to stick with us and grow. He's certainly beginning to show his willingness to adapt his game to pass and move prem standards. It'll take a good few more games for him to work out when and how to take defenders on in the way he did in the Championship - but no doubt he'll get there once he's sussed the basics.

Warnock's right to have criticised his 'advisors'. Taarabt's disdain for Rangers last summer was both blinkered and disingenuous. It caused a rift with the club that gave him licence to do his worst. On the back of a load of hangers on over estimating his stock, his worst worsened to the point of little or no monetary value.

For me, he has no option but to stay put and do the business.

Your thoughts please on this ongoing episode?

This. I've always hoped, like most R's fans he'd come good, and in doing so earn a move to a big club (although not I'm not as blinkered as some on here, Dave!) and as much as Fraulin's unsellable for us at the moment, I think the same applies to Adel, albeit for different reasons.

Ditto Brix, his 'advisors' have f*cked up the 1st half of the season for him and he'll only have two games with us before he toddles off to the African Nation's Cup. A few big performances there would be too late to give any interested parties the chance to sign him before the end of the season so I think he's staying put. Hopefully, such a scenario would be a big confidence booster for his return...

Hopefully TF , Amit , and Neil have pointed out to Adel the way to move forward.
    i.e With us.
If he has any sense he will drop the ' Hangers-on ' and move forward with us.
It's the only sensible option for all concerned.
    He is our 'Special One.'

He is indeed. Thing is, he needs to remind us why that is.

How long does the sell on clause apply for, presumably only until the end of his current contract? If so cant we just give him a new one and then flog him, preferably after he's kept us up!

Fernandes tweeted a couple of days ago that we have no interest in selling him. Whether he'll stick to that we'll see in the next month.

Also surely a deal must be done in the first two weeks as then he is away for the ACON

The sell-on is part of the terms of the transfer, he can have any amount of new contracts with us and it would still apply when he is sold...

After being on the sidelines for a while i am sure terrobat really enjoyed playing well against Man u and Swansea...I Know i enjoyed watching him...
Lets face it, we have not done that well recently without him...
We don't need the cash so unless Paris Frogs F.C. offer a great deal i think he will stay and hit form...

Agree with Brix that serious offers/ acceptable offers are unlikely. Just when he begins to turn himself around (still some way to go I think, but suspect he could enjoy himself against the Arsenal), we lose him to Morrocco. Possible scenarios - he's not picked for first game and flounces back to W12, he comes back out of condition/injured (most likely), or he is man of the tournament and we get £20m for him in the summer (because his 'advisors' will be back on it if he does well).
Hopefully we pick up a few points in his absence so Neil has some options.
Unrelated point - anyone know where Swords and especially Northolt are?

I think I heard somewhere that sell-on clauses are on a sliding scale, so maybe 40% for the first year or two years, then drop down to maybe 30% for a year....?

Every clause is individual, it would appear ours is a straight 40%. Some are sliding-scale, most are a set percentage. Ironically this is usually to the benefit of a small club selling cheap to a bigger club who can then sell on to a PL club.

If you had asked me 2 weeks ago I would have said he was as good as gone. Not only had Warnock finally run out of patience with the boy but January represents the last chance for any sell-on value. Given that many millions were being discussed back in the summer even a small percentage of that would look like a good deal considering the situation. But now he is back in the team and, more importantly, it is pretty clear that we are desperate for some creativity given the dip in form of both Faurlin and Barton (the later disasterously so IMO).

So my current take is that he will be offered a 1 year extension with a reasonably big salary attached so that both he and the club can keep their options open for the longer term. If he turns that down he will be sold to anyone who makes a halfway reasonable bid.

Nicely portrayed by everyone but a clear fact is there to see with or without blinkers ... He is a very talented footballer and has simply shone in these last few games. He is regarded inside the game as one of the great emerging talents. I do not agree about the gossip and the angle pushed out by QPR at times as he has been mucked about just as much. English press tells a very different story to that of French football writers/bloggers .. I tend to fall on the side of Adel Taarabt on this one. Off to Mexico (at last ... bloody clients made me work) and hope he is still with us after ACN

If only he had got his head together and played the first half of the season like I know he can then even if it was worth only another 4 or 5 points look where we would be in the league. That's how tight it is right now. I am a big fan of his when he is on song and hope that he is for the 2nd half of the season.
If whoever we sign in January make a difference of 4 or 5 points then we will be ok.

The thing is, we all know we've found gold with Tarbs. For once, we QPR have got our hands on a gem. Even though it doesn't glimmer as much as last season we all know with some tender love and care, and some rough polish, we'll get it back again.
Finally it seems that Warnock and his staff and owners has talked some sense into Taarabt and his advisors, mostly his 'hangers'. It's a shame the ACON' just round the corner. Some good points above, let's unleash him on the gooners!

Most people know how I feel about Taarabt, although I have always understood and acknowledged his shortcomings. I also agree that his hangers on have probably steered him in completely the wrong direction. He's young and starry eyed and clearly open to suggestions of playing for a big club etc.
I feel there are still mixed signals coming from the club about Adel. We recently had Mick Jones saying that he was as good as gone and then we have TF tweeting that there is no intention to sell him!! So I think it could go either way.
Personally I'd love him to stay. He's started to look like his old self over the last few games and we are desperately short of creativity!! Whether Barton's arrival affected him or not we may never know and I'm not starting that one up again!! I will say that Adel and Joey seemed to link up well against Swansea and Adel was "allowed" to take the dead-ball kicks (along with Faurlin) so maybe things are healing there!
The biggest fly in the ointment is the African Cup as it will take Taarabt away just as he seems to be starting to deliver for us.
