There is no way we need STRIKERS!!!!!! NUGENT AND BECKFORD ARE POSSIBLY AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER STRIKERS IN THIS DIVISION, THEY JUST NEED TO BE PLAYING IN THEIR BEST POSITIONS AND THEY NEED BLODDY SERVICE. BUILD IT AND THEY WILL SCORE FFS We need 2 good WINGERS!!!! We need 2 good MIDFIELDERS!!!!!! END OF RANT!!!!!! UP THE FOXES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK GOD! I thought I was the only one. I fe lt so sorry for Beckford on Saturday. The fans jeered him off when actually he'd put in as good of a shift as he could. His service was unbelievably bad.
AKCJ glad you think the same way, we just got to convince the other 27,998 city fans LOL I have read on other posts Beckford needs to play off a target man. I dont agree, who was his target man at Leeds then? I think with the addition of two pacey wingers he could play in a free role behind Nugent who for me is a definite old fashioned center forward We need a creative and ball winning midfielder with a good engine, the defence and keeper is rock solid anyway. Would you agree?
I think we need a striker aswell but Waggy could sort that Priority 1 Wingers, 2 Centre mids, 3 strikers
Couldn't agree more. We need a tricky fast winger who can actually beat a man and put in a put in a cross, a 'Snodgrass/Whittingham' type player, a playmaker and a cover left back.
Nugent- yes Beckford- I cant see Nigel keeping him but if he got the chances he would be more then good enough Waggy- If Nigel can get him playing again Howard- 20 mins impact sub when things arent working Schlupp- not ready for first team football yet. He will probaly be loaned out
Right i want 2 wingers coming in. A fast winger down the right and someone like Peter Whittingham down the left So we have a quick winger down each side. Dyer and lets say Jimmy Kebe And a winger who can put the crosses in down each side and take decent set peices (Whittingham and Gallagher)
Yeah agree AKCJ two excellent players mentioned and suppose we cant expect the top boy Konchesky to keep putting in outstanding performances week in week out without some running repairs he really wants to wear the shirt
At last!!!! Someone else can see what football is about apart from looking at statistics The midfield is the problem and as long as the likes of King and Wellens get regular starting places regardless of how crap they play, the likes of Beckford will always get the blame because he doesn't score. I can't remember who said it in another thread, but against Portsmouth keep a special eye on Beckford and his movement. Watch how many times he makes good runs but doesn't get picked out by the midfielders! Also, listen to Ian Stringer on the radio on an ear piece. If King plays, he will only mention his name about half a dozen times throughout the 90 minutes. That's because he is never involved! Time for Fernandes.
King isnt creative enough and will only do well in a successful team Wellens is a very good player and one of the best midfielders in this league but for the past month he has been very poor and needs a rest Both players are more then good enough to be here but they both need a bit of a rest but there isnt any decent players who can take their place Neil Danns has been very disappointing, Gelson Fernandes and Michael Johnson dont want to be here and are off, Yuki Abe is only good if he has strong people next to him (Bit like Andy King)
couldn't agree more guys, the prob def lies with midfield, and yet wk after wk its the same cullprits who get picked. if you create nothing, then its nowonder our strikers are not netting many goals. im delighted im not alone in thinking along these lines, tho to be fair there are a few around me in L1, who are starting to see the light over how poor wellens has been for wk's, and that king has been anonymous for most of the season, and gallagher is def a luxury lightweight player. im praying for changes tommorrow but not holding my breath............
I dont think there will be changes tommorow as we all agree the back up isnt any better then what we are putting on the field.
I don't think it represents Sven very well that we're all saying (and rightly so) that it's the midfield that's letting us down given the abundance of them that he signed. Our creative spark in midfield last season was Wellens and he did the job superbly but now he has gone off the boil and hasn't been the same player and his demise as the season's gone on is worryingly indicative of how the team have been doing. I've said it many times that Richie is the only player within our squad of whom you could say: 'When he plays well, Leicester play well'. However, when he plays badly, too often we as a team play badly as well so we need another creative midfielder of his ilk in the team so we can rotate Wellens because he's 32/33 now I think and the cut and thrust, high-paced nature of this league can be tough on some older players and just to give him a kick-up the arse because for two years now he's been one of the first names on the team sheet. I think though that we already have that player in our squad in Michael Johnson but if we can't get him fit and Proud's right that him and players like Fernandes want out then a centre-mid should be very high on our list. Just to throw some names into the hat, maybe someone like a McEachran (unlikely but who knows), Shelvey or Livermore on loan or if we want a permanent deal, possibly a cheeky bid for Clayton who's probably the best creative midfielder in our league. Of course we're gonna need one maybe two wingers. I like Townsend at Spurs. We know there's a strong chance Kebe could leave Reading and Stewart at Hull would also be good but we could be forced to pay over the odds for him. Robert Snodgrass as well and he's someone who has played successfully with Beckford before and could bring out the best in him. Any of those and I'd be smiling. I don't think strikers should be too much of a priority at this point and with Waghorn coming back, he'll be like a new signing anyway. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind someone like Billy Sharp but sorting the midfield out should be the primary concern.
Donny have been telling porkies Billy Sharp is avalible for 1.85M not 3M http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/jump?http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11712/7401850/ Thats good news in a way but it also allows lots of other clubs to compete aswell.
I think we will out do everyone on wages though. The cheaper he is the better wages we will be prepared to offer
Plus he says he doesn't want to move out and I think he lives in Sheffield. So its basically us, Leeds and Dull who realistically are in with a shout.
Can you really see Uncle Albert parting with nearly 2M on 1 player Unless a prem team comes in which i doubt i reckon its 2 horse race between us and Hull I think we will offer more wages aswell so could we be the favourites?
