http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16362916.stm Malky Mackay has revealed Cardiff City have received a bid from Championship rivals West Ham United for playmaker Peter Whittingham. But Bluebirds boss Mackay has rejected the offer, thought to be in the region of £3m, from the Hammers for the former England under-21 international. And Mackay insists that Whittingham, who signed a new three-year Cardiff deal in August, "is not for sale." Whittingham's impressive displays have helped propel Cardiff into the top six.
A large chunk of any money we receive for sales goes to Ray Ranson. Therefore it would take a massive fee to part with Whitts. Would Whitts want to go. West Ham - long ball merchants. Does he want a sore neck. Still they will probably go up and are a biggish club. Norwich LMFAO - they dont have the finance and im sure Whitts would rather stay here. I predict Whitts will stay. However we will have difficulty keeping him in the summer if a decent sized PL club wanted him. Teams like Norwich , Blackburn , Bolton can forget it though.
Thai, after your Reading prediction you can have Taiwo for £20... ok, £15. Well done Malky ...Money will eventually talk so I think this could be the first of many and could be a long window
Oh yes they do, but would they gamble on shelling out that sort of money? If they feel they will survive this season then the money really is not a problem
i'm happy we rejected the bid as it shows a bit of ambition, though the real reason i think we rejected it was because of the pathetically low bid made by west ham, who are now owned by gold and sullivan, and rarely pay £3m if the fee is quoted as £3m..
Quote However we will have difficulty keeping him in the summer if a decent sized PL club wanted him. Swansea?
I think Hilts is probabaly right about that. As I understood it, Ranson's Cayman Islands based company PFF (Player Finance Fund) has a mortgage over the proceeds of any player transfer fees received by the club. The mortgage to PFF was set out in the last accounts to the tune of about £3.5M being itemised in place of, and as an improvement on the original straight loan from Ranson's hedge fund Sports Asset Capital. It is now only redeemable through player fees and is not recallable on demand. I don't know what sort of interest rate Ridsdale agreed originally, but I bet it wasn't cheap. Did Ranson get the million we got from Ipswich for Chops? He would have been entitled to it under the terms of the mortgage. I think Chops is the only sizeable fee we've received since the mortgage - the likes of Bothroyd and Burked walked. I'd have thought the Malyasians wouldn't blink financially if Whitts did go. Yes, it would just improve their position at the club if the mortgage was redeemed but they want success not a quick return, and Whitts at the moment is fundamental to that. Whitts won't go unless someone offers silly money.
Swampy - I think it was earlier this year that the CCFC loan and Ransom himself were subject to an enquiry by the Football League. They weren't sure whether the agreement with Ranson meant he could have a veto on Cardiff player movements or whether he was only entitled to the cash once any deal was struck. If Ranson could exert influence over another club's affairs before the event and not after it, his tenure at Coventry would have been under threat. FL rules fundamentally forbid any individual or their organisation to influence the affairs of more than on football league club. We were in the clear as it was a straight mortgage agreement, but Ranson would have been in the **** if it was proved that he could dictate transfer decisions at Cardiff.
Not for sale!! Ha ha! No such thing - if they bid £6 million I'm pretty sure he'd be for sale then. £3 million is a bit of a joke offer.
Cardiff can transfer people out as much as the want I think . When you do is when you answer to the finance fund I think , although I'm not a 100% on that
You're correct Breezey - Cardiff City FC control the destiny of its' own players 100%. Ransom's PFF only have an interest in the proceeds of any sale after the event, and have no say in the decision making as to which players to sell and for how much. I'd like to see the Malaysians clear the mortgage and pay them off to be honest, but why should they? The renegotiated deal with Ransom means he can only recover his outlay through sales as and when that happens.
