i think he is just hedging his bets...but deep down he knows he wont leave...but as with anything in life..you can never say never


if chelsea or any club decided to all of a sudden offer 80 million for him..then i think wether he wants to go or not wont matter no more...Levy would sell him and rightly so.....but not in this transfer window as he is a very important cog in a very well oiled machine at this moment<ok>

there won't be Luka at the bridge,Levy has already said,more than once he won't sell him to you lot ,even though your desperate because your sliding down the league
 
I wouldn't say that there is no chance that Moddy will move to the Bridge, although I think we can say with certainty that we will not be selling any of our stars in the January window, nor ever, unless they do a Berbatov, and force Levy's hand. And then, as Levy has shown, only a stupidly large fee will encourage Levy to let players go. Everything Levy has said and done has proven that he intends for us to be a perennial title contender in the EPL, and to do that we need to keep all of our stars. We have never been a selling club by choice, and I cannot imagine that Levy plans us to be one now, not when we have shown so much ambition.

The Berbatov affair embarrassed Levy and set us back by at least 2 seasons. Levy does not strike me as a man who is in the habit of making the same mistake twice.

So, yes, Moddy could go to the Bridge (or to United), but (a) he would have to hand in a transfer request AND refuse to play (as did Berbatov), and (b) the buyer will have to be prepared to pay us a stupidly large sum of cash for him.

Just saying. It's a very different spin some of the Spurs fans are putting on it. I wouldn't say it's inciting a wum fest, but your thread could do with a little more realism.

Well they are "playing football reminiscent of a Dutch team of the 70s" <laugh> after all so how could you possibly expect them to see what most sensible and non-delusional football fans across the UK can see? In that Modric is still questioning his future.

Modric will go in the Summer, I'd put money on it
 
Can't remember the last time a player said "I will definitely not be leaving". They are all wary of making such sweeping statements cos they know that if they do end up leaving, for whatever reason, the fans and media will drag them up for the rest of their career. Rooney's "Once a blue, always a blue" statement is still dragged out by Everton fans seven years after he moved, and Clichy will probably never hear the end of his "Why would you want to play for City except for the money?" quote from a couple of years back.

I think Modric recognises how quickly things can change in football, particularly if Redknapp ends up taking over for England at the end of the season, and doesn't want to say anything that may come back to bite him in future...

So that would suggest that he is considering his future. I think both the Redknapp situation and the Champions League situation will have a massive bearing on Modric's decision. He wanted to leave in the summer, because he wanted CL football, he made that clear as day, but Levy bullied him into staying. If Spurs don't get CL football this season, I think their stance to try and keep him against his will would be completely untenable.

Fair point with regards to CL football.

Considering your league position at present should the table stay the same come May is it fair to assume your bigger players will want to leave in search for CL football?

RVP and a few others will most certainly consider their options?
