The Swiss newspaper Blick recently christened the small Faenza based team's new Ferrari-powered STR6 a "Wunder Auto" after a good showing in testing. "Toro Rosso looks reasonably strong in terms of consistency," agreed Jenson Button last month.

Hamilton said: "And the Toro Rosso looks ridiculously fast. They could be the most interesting one to watch." A few days ago, Fernando Alonso said Toro Rosso had made "significant progress" since last year.

Sebastian Vettel said: "Ferrari have made a very strong impression. It looks close between them and us." As for McLaren and Mercedes, he added: "It looks as though they are having a bit of trouble."

Normally I wouldn't read much into Hamilton's comments, but with all these people praising Torro Rosso, it looks likely that they have a good year this season. I don't know if the double floor can be copied, but so far it looks very effective. It's a shame that other teams with much stronger driver line ups look to be behind Torro Rosso, but let's see what STR's drivers can do.

I heard rumours earlier that this season was Buemi's final chance, and then soon after this Ricciardo took part in testing - where he was reported to be bloody good.

STR have a good car but not a winner. regular points should come. Maybe Hamilton and Mclaren are looking at STR as competition for early 2011?

Didn't have much chance to keep fully up with the testing, was the STR looking reliable as well as fast?

They looked fairly handy last year though. I'm hoping the midfield will be closer to the front runners this year and have a real say on who's crowned WDC. Last year, apart from the odd Kubica drive, the top five were pretty much guaranteed a decent haul of points if they finished the GP.

The car is good, their drivers however may be the weak link.

I'm hoping the top 5 will be a top 6 this year. Also with the tyres I'm hoping we'll have them having to battle through the midfielder's who decide to try extreme strategies.

I'd be glad if Toro Rosso could get there, a good team, doesn't get on anyone's crackers, and are like the underdogs like Minardi-everyone secretly would want them to do well. Alguersuari and Buemi had the tendency to get in front of bigger names and stay there last season, and with a better car, hopefully keep repeating that. I've always liked the team, and I think they deserve to go back to there successes from the 2nd half of 2008.

This is shaping to be one hell of an interesting season.....

Minardi were always my secret passion in F1. I used to count down how many cars there needed to be till tey could get in the points. A race where Minardi supprised was a good day.

lol, it was the same with Super Aguri, minus Yuji Ide. their last season was pretty impressive, the progress they made in a year was better than HRT and Virgin put together! Sato's race at Canada 2007 was very good, very funny as well that he overtook Alonso....he actually out braked him round the outside!!

yer yer alright lol. The super aguri car did look like it was going to go places but I think They were the first to go in Honda pull out which was a real shame. Their cars and other assets had a few buyers too which just shows how good they were though wasnt their first car bassed on a 3 year old Arrows they baught from minardi?

I'm not sure, what I do know though is that they were encouraged and aided into F1 by the other teams after they were starting refuse due to the costs

I hope Torro Rosso do well, so I can start wearing my Torro Rosso cap with pride, like when Vettel won in the wet at Monza in 2008:emoticon-0137-clapp:emoticon-0137-clapp

I would really like the top 4/5 teams to have shake up this year, and one that lasts beyond the first few races! I remember Bahrain 09 had Toyota on the front row, with Mclaren way back, but the 'natural order' was restored soon enough. It'd be fantastic if Williams, Toro Rosso, etc could produce a championship winning car out of the blue, and the likes of Mclaren and Ferrari fail to be competitive all season. Or someone like Lotus to make a big step up and start getting regular points.

I'd like Lotus to do well, same with HRT, but I don't really like Virgin, it's just really a logo slapped on an engine!

For the queries regarding the floor, I dont think it can be copied, as far as Im aware the floors need to be homoglomated or however its spelt for this season.

They're quick, they're reliable, they're definately one to watch this season. May cause a few surprises.

I can see STR being regular top 10 this season, maybe a look in at the podium if things go right. I still think Lotus will be near the back, but with the tyres and improved package they may get a sneaky point somewhere.
