    I get what you are saying. The standard fence sitting diplomatic response is known to be meaningless and does nothing to re-assure us. A definite "i'm not leaving" would be nice for a change.

    On the other hand I can understand that he may want to give the impression of leaving his options open.

    I've just given up on expecting loyalty from players.

    Exactly <ok>. I'd rather he just said: "I love it here, but I'm keeping my options open". I'd rather everybody who thinks that would just say that instead of filling sentences with inferences and suggestion painted as a compliment and served up to the fans who they obviously think are morons.
