Why do so many people only listen to one genre of music?

    Broaden your horizons folks.

Aye, but it says a lot for the people on here that the first 10 tracks that come up all belong to the same genre of music. It's the dickheads who listen to either heavy metal or techno or hip hop who're the worst. They listen to their music exclusively at the expense of a load of other music.

I reckon it depends on when you were first into music, most people will stick to the type of music that they enjoyed while in their early teens as these are the formative years of musical appreciation. From about 12 to 18 it was all obscure punk, Indie/alternative mixed in with Metal but I still like the cheesey 70's and 80's stuff and got into Blues in my 20's. Being an old fart now I rarely listen to modern bands, I've turned into my Dad and think it is all rubbish and too noisy. Having listened to Napalm Death and Nuclear Assault I don't know how I have the audacity to say anything is noisy or rubbish though!

One thing is certain though. NO F*CKING JAZZ!!!!!

Why not? You are probably thinking of that ****e that sounds like the soundtrack to a bad porno or elevator music but if you listen to someone like Coltrane or Davis you will see what Jazz is all about.

    What? Robbie Coltrane? Steve Davis?

You can pretend that Jazz is great along with all the other saps who like to think that Miles Davis or Charlie Mingus are cool. Try playing in f*cking time, try playing the same tune and try anything without needing heroin to get through a gig. Jazz is a load of fret-**** by people who don't know where the happy notes are.

I can understand if anyone went through my entire record/CD/MP3 collection and thought it was all rubbish, I'd have to agree with some of the tunes I like, but I don't pretend and Jazz is pretend music for pretentious twats. Don't forget, Johnny Hates Jazz, and Johnny is never wrong.

The best jazz is improvisational and when it is done well the result is simply awesome.
