Why are we constantly praising up Nile Ranger?

We have given him chances upon chances and he has missed sitters. Ok he has pace , but his composure is shocking.

People say oh hes only 19, what about young Wilshere, owned barca for the gooners, an england regular , so age is a cheap excuse.

Now people talk about him being next number 9?

Shearer was number 9 , a role model a quality striker, Ranger is a wannabe gangster, just check him out on facebook. Dont want that as a number 9.

Lovenkrands all the way! :1980_boogie_down:

The general disruption he causes in defence whenever he comes on be it against Arsenal (twice) or Bolton... he seems to worry defenders a bit...

  3. Because he looks ****in beast. Excellent pace, brilliant upper body strength, frightens the piss out of the oppositions defenses. He can finish, but just need to get some confidence infront of goal, and hopefully that header that he was called offside for against Bolton, would atleast show him he can hit the target and potentially score.

I've seen some class finishes from him in the reserves, i know it's not the same level, but no matter what level you're at, if you can finish, you can finish.

I can see where you are coming from Welsh. Maybe we all just WANT him to succeed so bad. For all his 'Ganstaness' he seems a canny lad who has the skills required no doubts, but where are his goals?

I think we may see the best of him in the seasons to come, I'm a little disappointed he hasn't started as many games but AP must have his reasons.

A bit of luck and a bit more maturity, we will have a great player on our hands, but number 9? I'm not so sure!

I ****ing hate this culture of people thinking someone isn't good enough because 'Well Wiltshire/Messi/Rooney/Ronaldo etc etc' are good/were good at that age! People forget that a prime age for any striker is mid/late 20's (26/27). Nile looks very good for a 19 year old, goals come with confidence, the rest of his play is awesome already.
Give him games, he will get more confident, more composed, more awesome!

Agree, I dont doubt he can floursih in years to come but hes not coming on as quickly as everyone would like. Is he rubbish no, does he have potential yes, but I dont want another Shola on our hands where at 27 or so your still struggling to get in a side youve grwon up in thats my worry.

Also Vuckic , would like to see him come on but no hes also struggling to get game time, although with 9 games left why would AP risk changing a winning formula at the moment...?

  8. Lets see - Ranger vs Shola

    Age - Ranger
    Pace - Ranger
    Ball control - Ranger
Passing/playing with the team - Ranger
    Balance - Ranger
Finishing - Shola at the moment

    spot on <ok>
was going to sort you some rep but "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to RIP Bartons Tash again." <yikes>

As to why we should be giving him more starts, just turn the clock back to last season with Carroll. He was putting in the performances, but without the results until he got a good run of games because of injuries, then once he had a few consecutive starts, he started banging them in. The similarities should not be ignored, because as RIP has pointed out, he certainly knows where the target is.

    He's ma hombre

The guy has some serious class everywhere apart from finishing at the minute, but looking at him in the reserves it seems he doesn't have a problem with that.
It's all just nerves at the minute I'm thinking. The kids desperate to score and I think that's knocking him a bit, especially with the West Ham shindango.
His time'll come. A year out on loan and he could return to us with that composure he needs.

He's the most exciting young prospect we have in the senior squad at present and we simply want him to play.

If he scores just one goal then that could give him the confidence to really have a go in the later part of this season.

He's got a lot of potential. He has a good all round game and if his finishing improved he'd be class.

I always preferred Ranger to Carroll anyway
As I've previously stated several times, Ranger has a far cooler last name, and we all know that's all that counts.

don't know about giving him the no.9 now in the future maybe but he's better than shola and most of us want to see him get more playing time. The squad at this present time he's prob on a par with best and way ahead of shola and lover.would love to see him and best get the chance to strike up a partnership
