it did cross the line though, that's a fact. If you cant see it you cant give it though. If goal line technology was in effect we would of had a goal. At least McCoist never exploded with rage. Imagine the shoe was on the other foot? PS will mulgrew get a 2 match retrospective ban for a blatant dive to win a free kick or is it only for penalties? serious question
parallax view ; no way would that efort be given , even by gollum ,close as it was. mulgrew( assuming I agree with your assertion that he dived ) . no , because he didnt gain an advantage which affected the outcome of the game.
No one thought it was a goal in live action so people just need to let it go. Ditto the Hooper offside which was a worse decision as the linesman had a good view of that. ps Will Lafferty get suspended for running into Scott Brown and throwing himself to the ground like a five year old having a tantrum?
anyway Trev , I d be happy to shoot the **** with you on this one but its 2 in the morning here and Im pished with housepests to deal with in the morning ps; perth off the agenda then ?
Rangers gained an advantage by the penalty - ie a goal. Had the ref spotted Aluko Rangers would not have had a penalty - and would not have scored Celtic gained nothing. So the punishment would naturally be less, had Mulgrew scored from the free then it may be a different story. As he didnt - he might get a retrospective yellow card - as would have been the effect as if spotted Stoopid huns Also - even with 50 replays its not yet certain the whole of the ball crossed the line (as is necessary for a goal to be given) 99% of the ball isnt enoough If 50 replays cant make it certain then thats enough to support no goal. end of story
**** the "goal" these things happen mulgrew dived to win a free kick which could have led to a goal. If Jelavic had missed the penalty would aluko still have received a ban?
what a bullshit rule. both cheated to gain an advantage therefore both should get equal punishment. that matthews **** aswell, holding his ankle when there was no contact? 2 match ban
A dive is a dive, whether you dive to win a penalty or a free kick you've still cheated to gain an advantage. The fact Celtic didn't score with that free kick is neither here nor there Why should Aluko get banned and not someone else? Is it cos he is black?
I dont make the rules. They probably should ban everyone who cheats to set an example. But they dont. they tend to do it only when it creates a serious impact on the outcome of the game
Because he was awarded a penalty - which led to a goal - which led to a 2-1 victory. What impact did Mulgrew's "alleged" dive have on the outcome of the game last night? Is every player (who now allegedly dives) to be given a retrospective punishment? If that's the case then Jelavic would not play again this season, he fell over in an almost comedy fashion every time he was brushed against.
If thats what it takes to cut out diving then yes, I don't care if it's Rangers players or not, if they dive then punish them. This whole thing about Aluko's dive being worse cos it led to a penalty is a nonsense, if you dive to gain any sort of advantage then you have cheated, there is no grey area here. Of course Aluko's dive benefited Rangers more than Mulgrew's benefited Celtic last night but Aluko is no worse than Mulgrew just cos he got a penalty
Players cheat every week as I said, some more than others yet you want Mulgrew's "alleged" dive fast tracked to the SFA mandarins for scrutiny? What would be a suitable punishment? 2 game ban? Please, don't make me laugh, i've read all my Xmas cracker jokes and i'm all ***ged out with splitting sides.
I didn't say I wanted anything to happen to Mulgrew but some sort of consistency from the SFA would be good, is it just when a player dives to win a penalty that the SFA will have a look at it? Like I said I don't care if it's Rangers players being punished, Aluko deserved his ban and so does anyone else who dives to gain an advantage
How would it be consistency to haul Mulgrew up in front of the beaks for an "alleged" dive which gained Celtic a big fat NOTHING? If you wanted consistency then every player who is proved to have "simulated" should be hauled over the coals. You and I both know that is never going to happen.
