Also Fonte just scored a hat trick for me in a 7-0 victory over Ipswich!

I was thinking that during my three successive promotions with Crewe, but then I struggled a bit with Stoke and Almería, so I guess I just did really well with Crewe.

I started a new game with the sole intention of bringing through academy players, the first season I played Shaw, Stephens, Ward-Prowse and Sinclair sporadically in cup games and and against easier opposition. I lost in the play-offs but thankfully the Don never sacked me. The next season (2012/13) I started to play those 4 more and more and by the end of the season they were seen as potentially key players and I got promoted via the play-offs (Sinclair scored 20 goals!). I am 7 games into season 2013/14 and sit in 4th place, undefeated in the league and all 4 of my academy players have been capped by England U19s and are valued at well over £1 million.

    Current team:

    J.Steele
    J.Stephens, R.Bennett, J.Hooiveld, L.Shaw
    M.Schneiderlin
    J.Cork, J.Ward-Prowse
    A.Lallana
    G.Hooper, J.Sinclair

got Plymouth from League 2 to the Championship in 4 seasons, also winning the JPT and losing in Play off Final - not bad for a club with no finances at the start of the game

but majorly, i kept the same core of the side which really does help you progress quicker

I can't rate that approach highly enough. Too many people fail to realise how beneficial it can be to restrain the amount of transfers you make and try to keep a familiar squad season after season. Players whose attributes look mediocre can perform surprisingly well. I took Crewe from the Conference to the Championship, and managed to keep around 10 of my key players from the first season, and they were still playing and performing well when I got to the Championship. Look up Shaun Miller as an example. From looking at his attributes, you'd think he'd be a Conference player at best, but he scored at least 20 goals each season on the way up to the Championship and was still in rotation when I got there. Same with Nick Powell, Bobby Reid, Saul Halpin, James Baxendale and Ryan Colclough. None of them look like much, but they'd all been together from a young age and therefore played extremely well. I might start a Saints game and see how far I can go before I feel the need to sign someone.

Why are Chelsea so good on FM? So annoying that every time I go to Stamford Bridge i get beat despite having a decent season so far otherwise... (6th in late April)

Man City and Spurs are worse on mine. Spurs seem to underperform against me but every time I go to Eastlands I just minimise the page and let the game play. No point watching that.

Yeh Man City are just pointlessly good... Tbf I've had my fair share of upsets - beat Arsenal 4-1 at the Emirates, beat Man United 4-0 at St Mary's and beat Tottenham 2-0 away and 3-0 at home. I just set my strategy to counter, have it on push higher up, get stuck in and hassle opponents. Works a treat usually against decent sides.

just been sacked 5 defeats in a row. players would just not perform tried fining them, talking to them, changing the formation, and team. GOt chelsea in the 3rd round of the cup drew at home 2-2, went away and lost 5-2. from then on i could not find win anywhere at all. i had 44 points from 24 games then went to 46 points from 31 games. was play teams at the bottom just couldn't win. no one of my players responded to my team talks apart from losing concentration.

AS seen below my squad isn't too bad. edgar what a signing solid cb.

WHat am i doing wrong for them to loose 5 on the trot and get sacked when 9th in the league.

You made way too many signings and most of them just aren't very good. I always try to sign a maximum of two new first teamers a season (normally just one) and a couple of youngsters, whereas you've gone and signed McQuoid, Murphy, Howson, Edgar, Schwertfeger, Petrucci, Morrison, Loovens and Roberts, and possibly more at the bottom of the page. Not only is this way too many but none of them are good enough - I went up first season with over 100 points from signing two players - Rodriguez and Tomkins. Rodriguez is a solid 4th choice striker for me and Tomkins is still in my first team.
