It doesn't mean anything that the teams who play in the supposed best league in the world can't compete with other teams from Europe?

    Explain

The fact that only two teams from the PL qualifying for the champions league knockout stage is considered as a failure shows how succesful and good the teams of the PL have been in general in the CL.

The fact that clubs in the EPL celebrate finishing 4th like they've won the CL just shows the lack of ambition of most of the teams.

Of course, it's expected that all 4 English teams should get through, especially when they get the easiest possible draws so the fact 2 didn't get through is an embarrassment for a league which is self proclaimed best in the world

What do you mean can't compete?

Spain have 2 teams in the knockout rounds, so do France, Germany and Russia. Italy has 3 teams and Cyprus and Switzerland have 1 each.

So England are doing as well as most other nations? How does that show them not being able to compete.

It may pain you to have to suffer football from Scotland when there is absolutely no other football on a Wednesday evening, but it pains me more having to listen to our southern friends bleat on and on and on and on every single week about their own league, on my local tv station, when I don't really give a flying **** about it.

Easiest possible draws? I'd agree that Man Utd's draw was easy, but Man City's? Nah, against one of the form teams in Europe (Napoli) and a new look Bayern Munich side who started the season on fire. Same with Arsenal, they had the German champions and Marseille who won the league a year ago. They were hardly playing duds.
